You're cat food!

Miasmata, a punishingly realistic survival horror game that infects you with a deadly plague and strands you on a mysterious island with a ferocious feline beast, is available on 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $5.99 for the next 24 hours!

This is one of the most challenging games out there. Your odds of survival look very grim, as the mysterious plague courses through your veins, there's not much food and water to spare, a shelter for the night is not easy to come by, and the bloodthirsty beast follows your every step, drawing closer and closer. The goal of curing yourself and making it alive off the island seems to be way out of your reach. But the game isn't unbeatable, no! You have a slim fighting chance against all the dangers that await you. You have but a fool's hope to cling to. But still--hope.

Miasmata goes to great lengths to immerse you into its terrifying world. The first-person perspective view, the use of in-game items as the game's user interface, the sense of actually having a body--all this counts towards creating an illusion that it is actually you stranded on a mysterious island, looking for a way to cure yourself. Combine this with the constant sense of dread fueled by the giant cat-like monster always lurking in the shadows, and fever, weakness, and hallucinations caused by your illness. This is the reality in which you must find the resources and craft the means of your survival.

Can you find the resolve to survive against all odds in Miasmata, for only $5.99 on GOG.com? The offer lasts until Thursday, February 28, at 10:59AM GMT.

It's like you've skipped all the words except for 'difficult' and 'died'

I was actually waiting for it to go on sale ever since it came out, but I got impatient last week and bought it. Now I feel stupid, hahaha, but it's a good game, so enjoy!

I'll never uderstand why would someone feel stupid about it, especially when it's an indie game. You've given the devs money to develop more stuff like this. It's a good thing!

PaterAlf: Thank you for this promo!

My mantra for the last few weeks always was "Please give us a Retro City Rampage, Miasmata and Pid promo".
We got Retro City Rampage last week and Miasmata this week. You know what to do next week, GOG.
Wait, RCR was on offer last week?

Oh, it's just because I was already waiting for a sale in the first place, and decided to buy it just before it actually went on sale. I don't regret it, on the contrary, but I had already waited for like three months for a sale and could've waited some days more - then again, how could I know? That's why I felt stupid, not because I bought it, but because in retrospective it looks foolish. :)
Wait it's over already? Dammit! Every time I get to add money to my debit card GOG :P

There is a way to get around. First, there will be at least one sale per year for every game. Second: for most people the backlog is that huge that you always can wait a year for a game and still have enough new ones to play. Third: just be patient. :) Fourth: I never buy for the original price. In some cases I buy with discount as pre-release, if that’s a really good game. But if you already waited three months, it’s silly to give in instead of just waiting some months more.

It’s a pity that almost no one pays the standard price, but it’s the publisher’s fault. There were so many sales over the last years that the customers are triggered to think, the original price is always too high, and if you can wait a year for a game, you will always save 50–75%.

Nope, if you think it's a pity, then you clearly understand the issue and it's your fault. I for one pay what I think a game is worth. 50 euro, that's ridiculous for a videogame as far as I'm concerned, but a game as innovative, big, and interesting as Miasmata? Worth 15 bucks. It's really down to you whether you do or do not want to support the devs by the full ammount, not up to publisher whether they do or do not want to push a sale.

You’re right, at least it is up to the customer. As I have written above, I also buy pre-releases, if I see a game that I want, and that I want as soon as it comes out. These mostly have a discount, but it’s not like I waited for one. It’s also not that 10 or 15$ are that much money. For a good game, why not? Most of these are way better than full-price games for 40 to 50$.

Yes, in some cases there is always the possibility to buy a game directly at the devs, and you can support them.

But in most cases it’s just so that I have already a huge backlog, and I discover potentially interesting games, but do not need them right away, I am patient and wait for a sale, because there will be a sale. If a developer or publisher doesn’t want these sales because his game is worth the original price and no less, then he should not hold one. So, now comes the customer and is disappointed “what, no sale ever?” and now you see why it’s the publisher’s fault over the years: customers are spoiled and expect sales.

Still, for a game gem I pay a good price, I buy it at release time, or when I discovered it and think will be a wonderful game and I want to play it now. But in tapeworm’s case, if he waited already three months patiently, it was silly not to wait a bit more.
