I'm curious about your thoughts, should GOG.com also be a platform for Indie games? For those who don't know: those are 'independently' developed games, usually by a small team and with little resources. So they aren't part of any big game studio. See for example the Independent Games Festival. Somehow these guys often manage to create amazingly innovative and beautiful pieces of art. So definately Good Games, if not Old..
I think I would prefer there to be a site that operates very similarly to GOG but which focuses on indie games, that way GOG.com could keep its focus.

Desura is currently in alpha / beta. Its focus is indie games, afaik.
maybe GOG.com can make a spinoff for indie games. Called GIG (Good Indie Games). I dont see it very practical, as CDprojekt idea is DRM free, and indie games are very prone to piracy. Plus indie developers want to make as much money as they can. Thats why almost every good indie game is on Steam

Indeed. Not quite as DRM-free-focused as GOG (client required for downloads), but still very good, once it has more content. Also, mods get some time in the spotlight as well.

Darn it! Ninja'd! I have to start reading whole threads before replying and thinking I'm oh, so clever.

So what? Go to demonoid, search Super Meat Boy and there you have it.

Some piracy protection. LOL

Hold on. This is new to me. How would indie games be more prone to piracy? Them making money fast I could see from the perspective that they need to grow. At the other hand, small teams require small cash, right?

They dont have the means, nor the money to apply a correct DRM. thats why you see them on steam. its a good & proven system.

Indeed, most indie titles are DRM free in places like GamersGate and Direct2Drive, but I always thought it was because they didn't want any DRM. On Steam they're hardly given the choice (there are some 'DRM free' games on Steam but they're still only downloadable through the client and hidden away in the Steam folder).

I don't like Desura. I'd rather have some other place closer to what GOG is like.

This. It would be great if Valve labels them as DRM-free. Maybe I'll start to use Steam more then.

I know Amnesia is such game.
