HI,

I justed stumbled upon this: http://storybundle.com/

I do not know how good it is, I am in no way affiliated, just though that some beople might be interested.

Cheers
The thread title piqued my interest, but then I saw they are ebooks (nothing wrong with that; I just prefer physical books) and that the covers seem to indicate they're aimed at 12-year-old girls. :-)

I bought it for a tenner. Who knows if I will ever get around reading them. Worst case scenario I supported another Stephanie Meyer...

That is actually a pretty bad worst case ...

Yeah the covers are pretty horrendous. I just did not have time to read some of the excerpts, yet, so I cannot comment on content ,)

That makes you the son of Chucky as far as I'm concerned...
Very cool. How did you find out about this book bundle?

All the books have positive reviews on Amazon.com.
I'm no sales rep or anything, but I'm appalled at how little love the Snug Nugget Bundle gets compared to the Story Bundle.
Srsly, with a $0.01 minimum like the Humble Bundle and only 104 bundles sold? It's sad. 3 of the 5 books offered are rated 4.4, 4.9, and 4.9 stars on Amazon, too. 'Course, I haven't read them yet so I can't recommend them personally, but still.............. :(
Thanks for the heads up. By the way Groupees already had a book bundle. I don't follow their non-game bundles so can't say if there was more than one.

And hasn't anyone told you "don't judge a book by its cover"?

How much love does the Story Bundle get? I saw no stats on the page. And thanks for the mention of that other bundle.

I vowed to stop buying games (that I don't play anyway), so I'm off game bundles for now, but I didn't say anything about books I don't read. :)

From the bundle's FAQ:

I like physical books. Can I get the bundle in paperback form?

As of right now, you can't. However, we know some people really love indie authors but also love holding paper in their hands. We get it, so we're currently investigating services to see if there's a good way for us to get you both the digital versions as well as the analog versions in future bundles.

So there's a chance you'll get some physical book love in future bundles.

I'd take Amazon rating with a grain of salt. Journey to Hart's Halo from the Book Bundle gets 4.8 stars on the strength of many bogus reviews. I found only one which looked genuine and it gave it three stars.

You know what, I don't know. :P
It's the gut feeling I get from seeing several mentions of the Story Bundle but only one mention of Snug Nugget while I was surfing the last few days, the activity difference in their respective Twitter accounts, and the abysmally slow increase in sales for Snug Nuggets (I was the 95th buyer when I reported about the bundle here 2 days ago, and there have only been 9 more buyers since).

One example I could cite of this sort of trend is... well.... this [duplicate] thread. OP mentioned StoryBundle but no Snug Nugget.

Interesting fact: When I first found Snug Nugget, the listed #10 Top Contributor was an ass that paid $0.01. Lol.

The question is, who wrote the reviews?

Not that I wish to insinuate that the authors have been engaging in shady dealings, but if teenie girls with posters of a topless Taylor Lautner on their walls and little interest in intellectual stories have written them, then it's going to be of little interest to many of us.

For example, the Undersea, Bypass Gemini and Unstable Prototypes reviews do look promising, but the three-liner reviews from "Heather", "ona", "JenX" and "Scampi" on Journey to Hart's Halo are not inspiring, the first review of John Gone reads "An action-packed adventure for teens", and with Missing Signals being the sequel to John Gone, it's likely to have the same problems, and I've not been hearing good things about The Heretic either.

Still, I can understand the need to accommodate for different readerships, so I may yet consider this.
