I will definitely go see it when it's out. I used to hate leo's performances but the last couple of years i really start to like him. I love his work on shatter island. He seems to get consistantly better so I have high hopes for this one.

TheCheese33: I was worried about DiCaprio as well, but he did fine here. In fact, he did better with Nolan than he did with Scorsese.

worried about DiCaprio?
Does not compute.
He is great actor and have you SEEN him in that spy in Iraq flick? he was amazing.
great movie.
I just got back from seeing it. It's the most complex movie I've ever seen, and I absolutely loved it. The ending really intrigued me. I think Nolan is saying that we can never really know if we are dreaming or not, if reality is actually real. I'm not going to be getting any sleep tonight because of this movie, and I'm going to be thinking about it for at least a week.
EDIT: I knew I'd be thinking about this movie a lot, but the problem is I can't get it out of my head. All day I've been thinking about it. It's almost like the movie performed an inception on me. I'm going to have to see this movie again at some point. Maybe that was the inception: getting me to see this movie over and over so Christopher Nolan makes more money lol.

Yeah, DiCaprio's been a genuinely good actor for a long while--at least as far back as What's Eating Gilbert Grape. It's just that he had the misfortune (sort of) of being really, really pretty in the mid to late 90s, so he got that heartthrob stigma that made it difficult for people who weren't teenage girls to take him seriously. Since he started working with Scorsese, though, he's really come into his own.
As for Inception, it is an impressive piece of work--easily the most imaginative release of the summer. Of course, given the typical Hollywood sequel/remakeitis, that doesn't sould like much, but it really is an inventive, memorable film. Easier to follow on a first viewing than I was expecting (which was simultaneously a relief and a disappointment; I wanted things to get even more puzzly)--with the way it juggled all those dream levels at once without becoming incoherent, it's pretty much a lock for the editing Oscar.

good DiCaprio movies
gilbert grape
basketball diaries
the beach
the departed
catch me if you can
and I'm willing to say Gangs of NY despite his presence because well....
His accents suck!!! But he's done very well for himself considering his 'teen idol' beginnings.
and man, TDK wasn't nearly as good as BBegins but Heath Ledger hype? He was a great joker, but the hype was surrounding the fact that you were watching a brand new film starring a DEAD GUY as the villain! He died for it, like with Brandon Lee. you go crucifying a dead man for our obsession with death, the tabloids love to wait for these folks to kick the bucket as young as he did. LOL

The hype was that he turned in an outstanding and pivotal performance ("bone-shaking" as one TV interviewee put it). His turn as the Joker was widely critically acclaimed, and he received an Oscar for it. The reason behind all this mania was probably the fact that he died, but nobody said "Go see TDK because Heath Ledger is dead." They said "Go see TDK because Heath Ledger is amazing, oh and by the way, don't forget that he's dead." You may call this splitting hairs, but I see a big difference between the two.
He was not a bad Joker, but I don't think he was a great Joker, either. I wasn't just disappointed because of the Ledger hype; I was also disappointed because, given the nature of this version of the Joker, I would have expected more regardless.
