Dammit, Bamix is the best choice, really? They cost a fortune!

Uck! I know there's some other kitchen freaks on here. I wouldn't mind throwing out my old Sunbeam beaters (I've had that junky thing for 15 years) and I really want something to mix up soups and stuff in the pot. I hear the Bamix's can do crazy crap like whip whipped cream in 20 seconds and do a lot of stuff you'd normally use a food processor for (like chop up pesto right in your bowl).

Anyone had one of these Lamborghini blenders?

I walk to the dining table at around 4 o'clock, and there's food on it. That's as much as I know about "kitchen".

dont know about bamix but for mixing soups in a pot -- my GE handblender works just fine


i have never made whip cream - my sisters are a fan of that - i perfer to buy it -- but they havent had a problem with my old GE mixer ----- which they killed by the way last year - it was over 20 years old

edit: LOOk if you have something that works fine why change it -- 180 sec oposed to 20 sec is not a big deal in my view -- UNLESS you have a recipe that only works in 20 sec which i would avoid anyway if i didnt have the funds for a sparkly new fangeled machine

Well the hand mixer works fine for whipped cream, what I need an immersion blender for is to make making soups not a horrid pain in the ass. I make big pots and scooping it out in a huge blender doesn't work very well (not to mention makes a huge mess). These mix that kind of stuff up right in the pot.

Get a dremel and bodgy up some stupidly dangerous soup blending attachment, its the manly thing to do! We have a stick blender (sunbeam I think) that's not bad, it does the job for stuff like soup but I do think my dremel would give me better results if I could just connect a half a dozen mini-buzzsaw blades together...

If I were to do this the urge would be too strong to attach it to my killer robot. He doesn't have any weaponry to speak of right now, so mostly he just hurls insults, but I think if he got something like you're describing it would be the end of humanity.

i just took a look at that bamix - it is darn expensive

it looks short for large pots

to justify that price i would have to see it in action and see it do the things im planing on using it for

for soups that i want to be smooth (no chunks) i chop everything up in a food processor first -- ilater i decide if i want to use the hand blender

i have never seen a hand blender replace a food proccesr - thats why i would have to actualy see it in action

Nice videos, yeah, anything that can turn skim milk into whipped "cream" in seconds is pretty powerful.

It's sealed so you can actually go down deeper than the stick if you need to, but the point of it is being able to hold it in one place and it just kind of sucks stuff from the side and bottom of the pot to it and purees it.

Maybe this is my gadget freakery moving into the kitchen, no idea, but I kind of like it.

just watched the demo video and the gaspacho video

- it looks ok

but my GE hand blender did relatively the same job on the soup as the bamix

all in all - it sounds powerfull but for that price i would only buy it if it had a "long" attachment

i could certainly see it was more powerfull than the rest - but did i see it do something more than save a few seconds - not realy

would i buy it? - if i had the expendable funds probably yes - i like the power. with out having the funds i would take a much closer and longer look at less expensive options
