I'm vaguely recalling it. There is also a long tradition of wishes backfiring starting with Aladdin and carrying on to evil Dungeon Masters running D&D games making players pay for ill-worded wishes.

I see it this way. If I had that kind of power, I feel I could spend the required time to think through the ramifications and word the wishes correctly. Although, how knows, each wish might become the length of a Subscriber Agreement. Does this make Wizards a kind of the first medieval lawyer?

Well as long as you are making the wishes come true, I don't see how they could back fire on you.
