It's quite telling that the Horn of Urgency has been sounded and the fanboys have gone into a full scale attack on Eurogamer for daring to give the game 'only' 8/10.
You know, I haven't read that many complaints about that score, review, really, but I've read a ton of people complaining about fanboys attacking EG.

Ebon-Hawk: Some general observations…

First, the number may mean nothing to you or I… but they translate into sales and into recognition. Those feats drive the market… you and I both know that Call of Duty is like Doom with better graphics,
Yet Call of Duty fans will find that offensive (for many reasons I am sure of it), furthermore, Call of Duty will go down in history as the first person shooter of console generation (for all the right or wrong reasons). So, you cannot ignore the numbers on a wide scale…

Secondly, back to the original comments about Uncharted 3, again, in light of what I said above, Uncharted 3 might be like Doom (or Wolfenstein) in terms of ground breaking event of the console generation. But Call of Duty is “better” (or so the public judges) than Doom, which means that by the same public standard a better game will come out (one with better exposure, more appealing, though not necessary better characters and so forth).
Naw, Call of Duty is actually pretty far from Doom. It doesn't have the elegant balance and simplicity, and isn't nearly as tight. Doom was all about dodging, health/ammo management, and making some simple tactical decisions on the fly. Call of Duty is just whack-a-mole. You zoom into iron sites and press the trigger. Zoom out and repeat. Take cover when there's too much red jelly on your screen. Uncharted is even further off. It's a cover shooter.
