man some of you take this shit too seriously.

the list is decent, I think. The order might not be ideal but there are a lot of excellent RPG's included, so it's all good.

I bet Mass Effect 2 is their number 1 because of how much they circlejerked over it.

Or probably ME3 because of the sh*tstorm it created.

None of the Gothic games are even mentioned (or maybe my reading skills suck, I hope)

And this is another reminder that I should never trust lists made by others, concerning a subject dear to me.. the list I have in my head is enough, and quite different than the IGN one also :)
I thought Gothic 1 was great...
Still think G1 is the best game in Gothic series.

Diablo 2 was suuuuch a better RPG than Fallout. I mean, it litterally captured the essence of what makes RPGs great : loot, and, monsters, and... loot, and world ladders, and, hm.

Me too. Plus many JRPGs along with Western ones. Hatred for JRPG's is annoying really.

I think that if you want to make a real list of the top 100 RPGs then it shouldn't be produced on the basis of finding a load of games that barely qualify as RPGs and listing them in order of greatness. One of the defining considerations should be that they're great [i]as[/i] RPGs. It's their RPG qualities that make them shine.

That would remove half their top ten right off the bat.

Why the hell is Dragon Age: Origins NOT in this list?

- The Witcher 2: #78
- Freedom Force: #58
- Neverwinter Nights: #31
- Jade Empire: #30
- Deus Ex: #25

WTF ?

- I loved Freedom Force but is it a better RPG than The Witcher 2 ? No, and it's because is a strategy game (party-based and not based on base construction) with RPG elements.
- I loved Deus Ex but it is an action game with RPG elements.
- Neverwinter Nights better than The Witcher 2 ? In their description, they only talk about the toolset and multiplayer: indeed nothing else to say about it as everyone agreees about the main campaing.
- I really liked Jade Empire but from what I heard, not everybody does. It should be that well placed in the list.
I wasn't fond of NWN1's Original Campaign.

Though, Hordes of the Underdark is one of the best RPG expansions ever made, if you ask me - along-side of BG2: TOB; TES3: Bloodmoon; NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer; and TES4: Shivering Isles.

I would take the SOU Campaign; and NWN1 MP and toolset over NWN1's OC any day.
