I would set up a page on the Wiki for this making everything public to the community, like receipts, mails, and so on.

Regarding the Game Trade Option, this is a nice idea and I have something in mind we can do to set such thing up :)

I don't want games or anything, just point me in the general direction of a communal PayPal fund and I'll take care of the rest.

schmea: I have a suggestion as to a bit of a win-win setup to bring in some extra money for a project like this. I know I am, and I'm sure others, are sitting on a collection of gift-able games due to their being duplicates of games we already have in bundles/collections we buy. Why not take advantage of this, and make a "Old Games for Charity" store (i.e. a thread on this forum) where we list what games we have, and what size of donation to our sponsor child(ren) would have you transferring that there game to someone.

For example, I have the complete King's Bounty Series on Gamersgate. I think that $8 would be a fair price for these fine games... so if Ubivis tells me that someone has sent him $8 through PayPal asking for my King's Bounty collection, I'd then gift them over as requested to the generous donor. The donor gets games he/she may have been going to buy anyways, with the money going to a very worthy cause, and we do something useful with the duplicates in our games lists. Plus, it's a fun little side store for a good cause.

Licurg: Sounds impractical. What if more people donate for the same game? You'd have to refund. Also, if there are so many people sitting on piles of giftable games, why not give some to me? I'm poor too, you know:P
First come first serve? ;)

This would be just an additional option to get money in, if we have too many people dropping out.

The main option is just to chipIn on PayPal.

I will request information tomorrow about the potential sponsorship and will provide more info soon.

Tychoxi: I would be interested to chip in!

Though I would like more details on *how* we are going to chip in (guess we will be pooling into some paypal account?). Also, will we be able to see some receipt (like a screenshot) or something acknowledging the money got to the foundation? Now, I'm extremely sure this is NOT a scam, please, I'm not accusing you of anything.

The other thing I must warn you about is that I too come from a third world country lol, and by the looks of it, I'm not sure how things will go with both my income and the US dollar here in the coming months/year. So I may stop chipping in with little forewarning at some future point, hope this is not a problem.

Well, aside from all THAT, the important thing I'll be glad to chip in for as long as I can.

Licurg: Dude... Argentina is not a third world country...
It'll be a stone age country if they keep messin' with us over the Falklands

ONLY JOKING, LOVE YOU GUYS :D

Obviously there'd have to be some things to work out... instead of just paying for the game, maybe have the buyer arrange things with the seller so that it's the same as trading in the "Classified" thread, with the difference being once you hit the payment phase it's "Okay, I'll let Ubivis know that you'll be depositing $8 into the paypal account. When I hear back from him that you have, I'll gift the games over to your account."

I don't want to steer the conversation away from its main point though: sponsoring a child, so maybe for now we should just stick to that and leave this for another day... get the main course settled before you worry about the appetizers, so to speak.

Just so you know right away, I will need about a month or so to catch up with some things so I may not be able to donate right away. Months of unemployment have taken their toll.

You may want to check your geopolitics on that one! But let us not derail this thread's worthy cause...
If we manage to raise more than $40/month than the extra can just be a buffer for if/when people can't donate that month or whatever.

I like the idea of trading games and stuff for extra funding for this Nice idea, schmea!
I'm in.
Did this die or what? :\
