I wonder what Thursadys announcemnet will be!
(as the counter on the front page clicks ever nearer to 6Million)
This kind of implies that the 6 millionth download already happened and the averaging script or whatever is now just counting down the last 5-10 mins... doesn't it?

I've been half reading the threads trying to reverse engineer the counter but not in any great depth.

EDIT: Hmmm... or not seeing as the counter's just gone mental!

For the reverse engineer
Every x minutes (5? 10? 7?) the log file of the downloads gives the variable of time, number of downloads till then, and rate of downloads. The page reads those values, and displays the counter. It is possible that it has already reached the magic number, especially since there was a jump from 0.544 to about 1.25 for the rate of downloads.
Aaaaaand done.

*feeling of slight anti-climax*

EDIT: Ooh no. Not anti climax. Broken Sword DC link opened... sweet.

BS:SotT:DC(+OG) = Shelf'd!
Yay!
Have original game and loved it - see what the Director's cut's like - apparently lots more for Nicole to do...
The timing of this was just a bit too... convenient. I suspected by Monday that the counter was heading for a Thursday expiration and by late Tuesday/early Wednesday, it was plainly obvious that was going to happen (should have bet a GOG on it). I'm not saying that GOG planned this all along, but it does look very suspiciously like they did.

Still, the whole thing is an impressive milestone and you can't complain about a free game!

Yeah, a free game for 48hrs is still one of the best Thurday deals ever, no matter how they dressed it up!
And congrats to that lucky *&%$ who won the entire catalog!
Look at it this way. The occasional Gem promo and a good weekend promo are often a little sunshine in a dull existence. If I'd just won the entire library I could forego that little joy for the next 3-6 months at least...

As for the money saved... peh, I'd just end up spending it on bills or something equally joyless.

Sorry, I seem to have been channelling Q*Bert for a second there - Back to myself again now!
