My brother wants to know if the Nvidia GTX 560ti (EVGA) is worth the money.

He heard some cases of it being unreliable

If anyone here used it or knows about it please tell us

I'm a pretty big Nvidia fan ever since ATI broke about 12 games over 4 consecutive driver releases and I contacted customer support only to be told, and I quote, "play newer games".

Switching to Nvidia fixed every single driver issue and I've not looked back. My last 2 video cards were the GTX 590 (current) and GTX 295.

The only issues I've experienced in over a decade has been software side (the games, and while I haven't installed every single one at any given time, I've got a little over 400 games that have pretty much just worked).

So its not the exact same card, but I'm a fan of the overall product. I usually stick with something until they give me a reason not to.
Should I just get the GTX 670? It's a bit more pricey but I can get the most out of it.

Haha I wish you were recording that.

I've actually tried to recover it (was via email) but it was Juno at the time and the backup file was corrupt. I had visions of various bloggers and twitterers passing that around ;)

I would have pushed it for you. That is some absurdly offensive customer "service."

Also @ the OP, I will have to agree with hucklebarry on the ATI driver issues. I specifically remember RAGE in particular requiring a super specific driver I happened to stumble upon in the depths of id's website. It was a prototype driver specifically geared toward RAGE, but that didn't work with most of my other games. RAGE, however, would only run on that driver (though it did run flawlessly on that 5870 I had), but refused to work on any others.

I also had some issues getting Saints Row 3 to run properly when that came out. Packing a HD5870, you would think that the card would out-perform a mobile mid-grade 500 series nVidia GPU, but you would be mistaken. And SR3 is one of the ATI-sponsored games.
The 560Ti is the same card I have.

My thoughts on it are that it's pretty much the sweet-sport card, giving the most bang for your buck (at least at the time I bought it, which was a few months ago). Most any cards cheaper than it aren't worth the reduced performance, and anything more expensive than it are hard to justify -- at least for a cheap-ass like myself -- because, well, they'll probably become obsolete around the same time as the 560Ti anyway.

And as for the reliability issues, you might be thinking of the Nvidia "purple screen of death" (Google it), which fortunately, was a problem with the drivers and not the hardware itself. And I say "was" because I'm pretty sure the problem got resolved in a recent-ish video driver update, as it hasn't happened to me in a while now.

So yeah, you couldn't go wrong with it as the 560 / 560 Ti are sweet-spot cards.

Edit: Grammer.
