svmariscal: And if you want the full experience, you must try multiplayer with some friends; it's the closest you'll ever be to PnP on a computer.
My friends only want to play new games!

Whats PnP by the way?

Pen and Paper, stuff like dungeons and dragons and such. NWN is great for that because you can get a regular fantasy adventure with your friend, multiplayer elements are integrated very well into the game.

Ah right. Thanks for the explanation.

That new Cdprojeckt cyberpunk game is a PnP game aswell isn't it? They had that guy that invented some sort of PnP system from what i recall from the last press conference.
I DID IT I DID IT!

Okay so as someone suggested, I hit up the bioware self help guide and followed the listed windows 7 installation guide. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/187/index (thanks TheSupremeForce)

~The big change was installing to C directly, not program files.
~After installation I tried a fresh run off the loader and got nothing (splash screen, vanishes, no load.) This is fine, and not the big issue.
~I then went in and edited the various .ini files to allow windowed mode, and give all permissions.
~Additionally i set nwnmain.exe and nwn.exe to XP service pack 2 compatibility mode. ~Closed up shop and ran the game from nwnmain.exe in the folder and it works fine now.

Thank you guys for the support in this thread. It took too damn long to figure this out but I am glad.

If i can ill edit the title of the thread to say solved.
Happy to hear it worked for you. I personally love Neverwinter Nights, and I hope you get many more hours of enjoyment from playing it then you spent trying to get it working! :D

Going with a HoTU playthrough. Just trying to decide on what kind of build I want to do now.

I am so torn between a thief/Assassin type character and one that can chuck spells and explode things all over the place.

Congrats. NWN1 lags like hell on my laptop, so I dropped some of the mods I had hoped to play and went to my backlo Used to run so much better on my old clunker. Will try your link.

Anyway, OC is a LOT of fedex questing. Mod campaigns have more...flavor. Sometimes for the worse. Custom armors in Dance with Rogues pretty laughable.
