Yeah, but male prisoners get raped by other prisoners. Not by prison staff. So it's not really the criminal justice in the USA, raping them. Of course, it is horrible that nothing is done to prevent the raping of male prisoners by other male prisoners.

I'm not sure why it matters who's doing the raping when there's people on hand with the power to put a stop to it that don't lift a finger. I don't know (never been raped thankfully) that that provides any psychological comfort or buffer against the mental damage that's done to a victim of such a crime. Either way, you've been raped by an evil fuck, one just happens to have been sentenced for another crime previously.
Umm, let's not forget Sabrina Harman and PFC Lynndie England were both convicted of heinous sex crimes and other abuse at Abu Ghraib.

The commanding officer at the prison was Janis Karpinski, another woman. Women don't seem to behave terribly different than men in situations like these, only minor details differ.

Yes, women aren't innocent angels but women don't have dicks. It is easier for women to get laid. I think a sociopath man in power is more tempted towards rape than a sociopath woman in power.

Nice to know, I'm not the only one who finds prisoner rape unacceptable. Now I wish to know if this happens in countries like Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, UK. I doubt it happens in the Scandinavian countries.

I don't profess to be an expert on the psychology of rape, but the refrain of many who claim to be such (whether they actually are or not is an undetermined matter) is that rape is rarely about sex (unless you're talking about date rape) and more about brutalizing and humiliation, i.e. a power thing.

Again, I'm not entirely sure that's correct. It is a fact that violent rape has gone down since the advent of the internet (and thus free porn), and while that could be entirely correlation and not causal, other forms of sex and violent crime have decreased as well. I'm not sure what to think about it, I just know that not all would agree that rape is about the dude needing to get off.

Also, many prisoners in Abu Ghraib were violated by objects (I recall a truncheon being one, forget the rest). You don't need a penis to do that.

I'm no expert too so I was just guessing before. If this kind of stuff happens in other first world countries, I'm really going to lose my faith in humanity.
