Seems to me like you need to blow off (some) steam
EDIT: pun intended

Trid: It's sad, but some ppl are just like that, and there is nothing you can do about it. :/
In a way there is.

You can decide to not let this change your ways. Every time in life (as that's a lot of time) where you get scammed or worse for having tried the right thing, for having respected the other ones too much, for having seen things from a different perspective than your own bellybutton's, you have the temptation to go "never again, fuck them all, if this is how it works then this is how it works, i've learnt my lesson". And you become the same asshole as them, with the same excuse as them, and you give the same excuse to the next one. And you, indeed, more efficiently protect yourself. At the expense of endorsing fully the planet's shittiness (beyond justificatios such as "ah i wisj it was a different place but assholes force me to be an asshole).

So, what you can do is fight back this temptation. And send the world to hell by not adapting to it. By not letting assholes convert you to their self-fulfilling prophecies. And by accepting the cost.

The only gain there is to keep the contempt outwards, and to keep the right of criticizing their behaviour. It won't have the same snowball effect as evil does, it won't make you a happier person, and it will probably make you a less successful person. But at least it won't excuse, in hindsight, the cheats.

Good to know :)

BTW: when i wrote it II had it mind that u can't do anything about that kind of ppl so don't be sad, guess my bad english striked again :S
I gave away maybe 50 games this year, most of them on Steam Gifts, and didn't have a problem (except once when I gifted an Indie Gala bundle and of the keys turned out to be bad, and it was agony to get them to replace it). So while a bad experience can leave a sour taste, I don't think it's representative.

It's safest to give away games from your inventory rather than keys. These always work as I understand it.
There's a lot of cynical people on here apparently.

But nothing wrong with keys... I give them out all the time. There were a couple of times that I thought the winner was up to something sketchy but turned out they just had some problems with the gifts which were solved eventually.

My only problem was actually my second giveaway ever - it was a tradable copy too, the guy won it on his alt account I think then gave it to his main, and worst of all he marked it as not received. Obviously he's banned now.

Still, don't go around thinking everyone's just out to scam you or break the rules or whatever. Always give them the benefit of the doubt unless you can prove them guilty, then you have the pleasure of getting them banned, which actually feels pretty good too :D.

Yes, happened to me too on a few occasions. Sometimes steam just goes "huh, whatever" and breaks down completely. Not that it can't be fixed with a few retries or a quick support request. Or I was just lucky all this time.

i666an: Ok I'm new and perhaps naive, but this sort of thing really annoys me and gets me down :(

I did a giveaway on steam gifts, I was practicing incase I get accepted in the gifting thread here lol

The winner emailed me to say it was not the right game, so me being me, bought it again for him, and then i tried the key i sent him. Low and behold it redeemed the right game, not that i will play the ******* thing.

when I emailed him, he said it was bugs with steam - i tend to think that he planned to keep the key and re-gift it.

It is this sort of people that make me wonder why I bother - having said that I will not stop on GOG (as we are the best)

Sorry for the rant, but needed to clear it, so it wont get me down.

As always, I will continue to try and make people smile :)
I feel for you man... Sorry you had to experience this kind of behavior.

I for one never had a problem with steam gifts. I've opened a giveaway thread back in 2010 and it went smooth as silk:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1613807

Of course, half the people that added me on Steam to get the gift deleted me two weeks later without ever saying a word =(

So yeah... That's human nature for you... It sucks, I know.
was this giveaway for the gog gift group or public ? if it was group only , please post the persons steam id
