Necrovision... It's completely and utterly unpolished, unbalanced, unforgiving and I hate it. You chop, shoot, throw, explode and generally massacre prussian soldier / zombies / demons (?) / robots (what the fuck!?) in world war 1 setting. I ... Am speechless. I genuinely don't know what to think of the game, but I can recommend it. Try the demo, if you find it average and like Painkiller-like shooters, you're gonna love the rest of Necrovision (for some reason, the further you get, the more awesomely evil the game gets.) Also, I found it hard to get into, at first I have only hated it, but ... I somehow can't get enough of the bloody game. I would love to give you a comprehensive and coherent description, but I don't think it can be done.
The first half of the game is pretty gruelling. It's very unapologetic about being a Painkiller game (even uses the same engine, I believe). But persistence certainly pays off later on. It gets more imaginative and really comes into its own. Even if it's still essentially a Painkiller game.
I hate Necrovision!

...

...

No really, that's it.
After everything said here I'm installing this tomorrow. Have it from the GG 1C pack and didn't get to it yet.

Now it's a must.

StingingVelvet: I hate Necrovision!
The utterly horrible soldier bits somehow become fun when you get a sniper rifle. If you didn't even enjoy zombie slaughter, well... SHAME ON YOU!
Hit detection is pretty bad but its very fun especially later
I thought this game looked pretty interesting simply from the setting, but I'm probably not enough of an FPS buff to be as forgiving as it needs me to be.

Yeah, it requires quite a lot of that, sadly. For me it's just on the borderline of 'too frustrating'
Just Buy Dead Island.
I finished both, Necrovision and Necrovision: Lost Company. I agree that it's unpolished, unbalanced, and sometimes the level design is not so good. But on the other hand the gameplay mechanics like combo system, bullet time, and simply the whole killing is awesome.

There is a lot of variety in how you can kill enemies, and it starts being really good when you'll get the vampire weapons and abilities. I think that most players / reviewers hated the game for it's first half, which was not that good and fun. I can say that I liked it, even though I know that the game is far from being perfect. But I had with it more fun than with many other shooters which got better reviews. I can recommend it.
Necrovision sucks. Ha, almost every Painkiller/Serious Sam clone sucks monkey balls. But Lost company sucks even more! How is that even possible, I don't know, but they managed to do that.

Yep Painkiller was Waaaay to easy for me. Lost company equals mind warp

Necrovision is pretty fun. Protip for maximum enjoyment: don't try to shoot the enemies from afar - dual wield the knife + pistol and sprint around like a lunatic slitting throats and shooting stragglers in the face. Great ol' time.

The game's pretty uneven, and I found the later parts (when you become the spoiler and get the gauntlet and whatnot) the most boring, mostly due to map design taking a nosedive.

Necrovision was fun enough for a single playthrough, which is more than I can say for Painkiller. These arena style "shootemups" tend to have gameplay mostly consisting of backpedaling while shooting. The frantic melee system that came into it after a while really saved Necrovision. The only other similar game I managed to finish is Serious Sam FE and SE, and that's only because of the coop.
I also love Necrovision. I actually suggested it in a shoot 'em up thread a while ago.
