Following the steps of those who went there before me, I got my Re-Play copy of Discworld Noir to run under XP. It's still a bit of a minefield.
NoCD fixes let me run it without protection issues.
Starting it windowed and Alt-Entering seems to cure the Open Notebook crash.
Pressing F1 is SOP for loading and changing options since the main menu crashes on those two.
Sure, having the subtitles on still pauses the dialogue after every line, and Lewton walks funny, but those are minor issues. Damn, I haven't played it for nearly a decade.

Congrats!

I had also successful evening yesterday...I was trying to run Dark Omen in XP with 3D accererated GFX and I managed to do it - on Voodoo3. I had to disable SB Live! and turn on on-board HD audio (without it I had stuttering sound in cut-scenes) but after thar all looks good. I'm still experiencing minor gfx glitches (like on-screen buttons slight flickering) but it's nothing serious.
Truth to be told it doesn't look that better from software renderer ..but, hell, I'm happy I did it :-)

Oh... I've got Dark Omen somewhere. An EA re-release, came as a two pack with Syndicate Wars. Sadly, some asshole borrowed SW to play and vanished.
So, does DO need anything special to run without Voodoo?

No - I've just used this driver...

Amigasport&Amiigamerlin DO NOT work
This stuttering sound have me a headache...It occures under 98SE/XP with combination Voodoo3&SB Live!/Audigy2. I also experienced it using S3 under 98SE. XP/Radeon 9600 - no such issue but no way to enable hardware accelerated GFX.
But when I disabled Live! and enebled ADI HD Audio under XP + Voodoo 3 - success :-)

EDIT: sorry I misread your post. Without Voodoo it run just fine but without 3D accelerated GFX - there is a thread about how do it on official dark omen forum.

Yay! Got it to run. It took only all the fixes in the book and Alt Tabbing to work properly.

Does all that crazyness work under Win7 too?

You'll probably have to skip the installation and edit a few ready-made registry keys (linked to in the thread) with a notepad. I did that under XP just to be safe.
That game is worth while.
