Curse GOG and their unholy deals.
I have that problem myself. I buy to many games and don't get around to them until later.
Welcome to the club!

I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to play several games because I'll have moved on to an unsupported, future OS. I'm currently trying to play some of the oldest titles I've bought.
I'm determined to keep my existing XP machine as long as possible.
If I get a new machine, great, but I'm not getting rid of my old one, just in case....

Win7 is incredibly backwards compatible, I rarely ever have an issue. The main thing is 32bit versus 64bit, but you can always dual-boot XP and 7 on the same machine.
This very morning as I was walking down the stairs I realised if I spent 1 day on every game I have boxed for PC...I'll have games enough to last me a year and a half.
Add my XBox and PS2 and Wii collection as well as gamersgate, Gog and Steam and there's another 2 years or so.
If each game in an arcade or console collection like the Sega Genesis collection or various Arcade collections on the PS2 count for 1 game pr day and I can add another year or so (228 various arcade games, 110 atari 2600 games, 30 C64 games, 30 amiga games and a bunch of various Sega Master system and Genesis games through various Sonic/Sega collections)

Really it's more a matter of what I feel like playing. If it's not entertaining me, I stop. Well that or if it's rendered frustrating due to bugs like Mass Effect.

I really should stop buying games and actually play some of them some more...but.....shiiiiny
I have the opposite problem :P and trust me, it's a lot worse...

Not so easy. There are no Windows 7 drivers for my laptop, and If I buy a new one, there will probably won't be any drivers for Windows XP.

I stay on Windows XP too, because I don't give a damn about Directx 10 or 11 and every game that I bought so far works on Windows XP flawlessly..

An XP laptop is obviously a special case, but considering how old it must be one assumes you will be buying a new one sooner than later.
It is a special case, because HP stopped supporing my laptop with new drivers in like a year after it was manufactured. They stopped on Vista drivers.
