Tantrix: YOU ARE THE RULE?!
Yep, I am everything that has ever existed and I am porn, well maybe not the Sonic porn (I do have some standards) :)

AlexY: How about some MAN IN GAUZE!?

Also, YOU'RE NOT PERFECT.

I miss the old Cartoon Network. I pity the kids of today, with consumerist crap like Ben10 and those PokeDigiMon knock-offs and shitty egotrippers like Megas XLR. No value to them whatsoever, no point, shitty animation... Chowder gives me some little hope, along with BestEd, but I somehow know deep down there'll never be a cartoon like Ed Edd 'n' Eddy again...

That's why I adore Boomerang. I still dislike Hanna Barbera cartoons (they were the consumerist crap of the time, really), but Looney Tunes are a godsend.
I liked that cartoon, Ed, Edd and Eddy. Why those shows can't be done nowadays?

lowyhong: YEAHHHH!!!

What is it with Ben 10 that makes it so appealing? Hard to tell. The sequel, Alien Force, is somewhat rubbish IMHO. I think it has something to do with the new producers making it a lot darker and truer-to-life, which is ironic considering how much more suspension of disbelief you need to have when watching Ben 10 as compared to Spiderman!

But I digress, Ben 10 is great fun to watch because, I presume, of the setting. I always get the warm, cosy feeling, somewhat envious of Ben, because the entire show takes place during Ben's summer vacation. It wasn't hard to just sit down and enjoy it just to see what place Ben will go to next. Apart from his "going alien" antics, the show strikes a chord inside many viewers - that is, showing all the cool places that a kid can go to to spend his summer in, from a comics con to a cruise. Awesome :D
wow, you were not kidding. I happened to watch an episode of Ben 10 where he is older and considering is a cartoon for kids, this one is dark! It's more dark than say Men in Black, which of course is no Nightmare on the Elm street, but for a kids' show? Impressive.
No-one mentioned Dangermouse yet??

For the theme tune alone, never mind the show....which was great anyway - David Jason voicing Penfold.....
I'm 35 and like cartoons. I don't see any reason not to, really. I'm also a bit of an otaku (though it's been 4-5 years since I watched anime with any sort of regularity.) But really, in my mind, nothing beats Animaniacs for sheer awesomeness.

Though I've gone without cable/satellite TV for my entire life, so I'm not familiar with a lot of the stuff that airs on cable. (ie, anything Cartoon Network has ever done or whatnot.) I suppose I could get cable now, but it seems pointless. I can see practically everything online anymore.

But yeah, back to cartoons: I mainly enjoy stuff from my childhood. Animaniacs, Freakazoid, etc. I even like the occasional episode of He-Man or Thundercats. Transformers remains good to this day as well.

In terms of anime, I mainly like older stuff. I've been on this inexplicable Dragon Ball Z kick recently. Odd since I haven't watched DBZ in almost 10 years, and couldn't stand it's plodding pace in 80% of the episodes. Though the pace didn't bother me when I first watched DBZ, circa 1997. A fairly minor anime called Record of Lodoss War (13 episode OVA) probably still remains my overall favorite anime ever. Chobits, Tenchi, Genshiken, Comic Party... all those are good, too.

I guess I've rambled on enough for now.

*Edit: I can't believe I left The Simpsons out. Overall, all things considered, it's my favorite cartoon of all time. Though I've gotten into arguments with a lot of other fans over when the series started to go downhill quality wise. I stand firm that every season was excellent up to and including Season 10 (though Season 4/5 was the peak of quality and 6-10 were still awesome, but not as good.) Season 11 was good, but not great. Season 12 is where the series really went downhill. People have... umm... disagreed with me very strongly on this in the past. One person I know argued Season 5 was the only good season and every other one sucked, but most seem to think it was crap by season 8 or 9. I also feel last season, season 21, was a return to form for the show... and, oh boy, some people take that as trolling. I could talk about this for another 3 or 4 paragraphs, but I'll shut up now.*

I'm torn between watching the shows I have on my laptop, or waiting until I get an awesome giant TV. I just don't know.

Wait until you have kids, if you don't, you'll get your fill of cartoons, both good and bad.
