Ignore that arse. You made a good PC and now you need to overclock it.

prakaa: it's actually 84, cores are at one hundred

i'llhave to see, i'm a bit tight, so yeah

Yeah I know,m i was thinking of buying a pre-built, but s friend said he would help me make a computer. He chose the parts and help me put it together, i knew little before that. Now I know more about building computers, but i have more problems than i would've had with a prebuilt (underperforming GTX480, CPU at temp of 100 degrees). It's all so much of a headache i'm not sure if i should just keep trying to fix it myself or take ti to someone to fix for me..

GameRager: If your CPU is running at 100 C you should get a better cpu cooler stat......my CPU temps went from around 70+(gaming would go a bit higher) to around 35 C(idle) when using a better cooler.

GameRager: That's still way too hot.
might ask a friend to cme over and we'll use therma paste and replace the fan

GameRager: Clean off old paste, apply new paste AND seat a new heatsink/fan and you'll see a significant temp drop......and also make sure cables are all tidies up inside the case.....routed so that the air can flow inside the case and all that good stuff.

Finally! I bought this:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_23_769&products_id=15449

i had a few problems installing. Firstly, the room for maneuvering was tiny.. so it was difficult to put it in. I had trouble putting the heatsink on, as there was no guide to sho9w me where the middle was, only the holes for the nails. But then, one of the nails fell down, and i had to remove the heatsink, and replace it. The problem with that was that it was preapplied stuff, and i didn't replace it after REMOVING the heatsink. But i did put it back in roughly the same position, so i guess, after checking the temp stats, it's fine!!

apparently, the idle temps i'm getting are still too hot, but i call humbug...

i think 40 at idle should be fine for now, i doubt many programs and games i'll use will absolutely use all of my i7950.

I'd rather not now, but maybe i should reseat it and apply new thermal paste sometime, seeing as i did remove and then replace it, without reapplying paste? I think though, that that's a fairly normal temp for my cooler..

I don't think they're humbug as you didn't reapply the thermal paste after removing and putting the heatsink back on. I seriously recommend that you do re-apply the thermal paste as it'll save you a lot of headaches along the way.

hmm yeah, the actual CPU is about 30 degrees, the cores all idle around 40. For now it should be fine, but due to the fact it's hanging sideways, in maybe half a year i'll reapply it, considering th temps are actually kind of even
