Can anyone give me a dummies version explanation for how to backup a game? I'm just an average user and have no tech background and am also new to gog, so please be gentle. :)

You download the game, but it in your back up folder.

And then ....

When you click on a game on your shelf, you'll see a big grey box appear with two columns. On the left, under Game Downloads, there will be a list of files for downloading (often it's just one, but larger games will have more than that). Grab those, either directly or with the downloader, and that's it. Those files are everything you need for a full backup of your game. Just keep them somewhere safe, burn them on a disc, anything.

Welcome to GOG and the "family" :) As the posters above have stated...backing up your copy is as simple as downloading to your computer via the GOG downloader (faster), or manually the normal way (right click, save target, ect...slower), then to be even safer, as bazilisek stated, burn it to disc (cd, or dvd) a flash drive, or as I like to do to preserve space on my computer harddrive, I burn it to an external drive via the usb port.

Happy gaming dragonfruit...and welcome to your new addiction ;-)
