ddickinson: I think the earliest video game was in the late 40's, I know Alan Turing wrote a chess game around that time. So it looks like you were spoiled for choice :). Although I'm sure the average person could not afford, or even house, the computers of the 40's and 50's.

lol - somehow I knew someone would come up with that. I had actually typed "there were no computer games (that we could afford) when I was 3 or 4" but changed it just before posting.

So, yeah, nothing available out in the sticks where I lived that could have even remotely been accessible either monetarily or physically when I was 3 or 4. :)

apehater: the more interesting question is how old you were as you played your first game that had higher age rating than your age?
I played the shareware version of DOOM when I was about 9.
I was 5 years old when I got a hold of the SNES and never let go, even nowadays. My parents told me that I was gaming with 3 at a friends place (NES).
My 1st PC and the gaming that came with it was at age 12 and since then the rest is history... :)
3 or 4.
Both of my parents are programmers, so we have always had a computer at home, and since we live in a city, I couldn't play outside, so I just played on the PC :3
Not sure exactly how old may be 7-8.

Don't know what the machine was called, probably made by Atari,
it played one game, Pong.

I even remember my parents bought it at Sears, where America used to shop.

I think the machine was branded with a Sears logo, probably licensed.

First computer game was 30 years ago at the age of 19, on a portable compaq computer,
with a tiny little screen, my friend and I played the original Wizardry.
I was around 6-7 years old, I think. I always loved watching my dad play games on the Apple II, and I still watch him play, even today! I got a Commodore 64 when I was 8 or so, and played that thing until I was about 17, when I gave it to my brothers (who enjoyed the heck out of it, too!)

The first computer game I ever noticed was probably Thief or Apple Panic.
