Hi all

Going to be building a pc for a work friends mother as was wondering how much to charge..

I was going to charge a flat £50 as im not doing a markup on components as its for a friend
what do you think?
With the price of built computers being what it is, you can't charge a decent amout of money considering the time it takes to build a PC. You time might have been worth more than 50 quids but is the service really worth that much?
A favor may be worth a lot more than a few quids.
How much is this computer going to cost, aside from your fee?

Which is why I don't do that. I think the average mark up for a Dell is only like $20 or so.
did you choose the components.
do you put it together
do you install windows, antivirus, skype etc.
do you take it to her and show everything?
do you copy some old files to the new computer?
Is computer worth more than 600 pounds

if you answered yes... 50 pounds is still a bit high for a friend. i would take 30. or half an hour in a bathtub with a cougar.
Nothing, unless you're in the trade already, in which case you would give a discount off your going rate. What part of "it's for a friend" justifies a fee?
