My is clicking like mad & it is driving me nuts. I have to have sound constantly to drown it out or it makes me want to rip my hair out (& that would be a shame considering how much of it there is.

What sort of laptop is it? If you can get to the fan a bit of wd40 might help, if the fan is constantly clicking it might be hitting a loose cable, you'd have to open it up for that. A vaccuum cleaner with a crevice nozzle pressed against the vents might suck some dust out

This is my laptop

I know it isn't a dust problem as I tend to clean it with compressed air at least once every two weeks & a vaccuum every month. Any idea how I would be able to get to the fan?
Oh its a HP! That explains a lot, they're noisy bastards by default it seems. Does it get hot enough to fry a steak on? It may have a similar cooling problem to mine which was caused because they were too cheap to install a 2 square centimetre piece of copper to actually conduct heat away. I had to order a pre-cut one on ebay and learn how to disassemble & reassemble a poorly designed laptop...

I've never had to pull that model apart so I'm not sure where the fans are, it might be something as simple as taking the bottom off but you'd have to do a bit of research for the model, there's bound to be some people out there disassembling them

Actually I don't think it is a cooling problem either as it usually has to be on for like 2 hours before it even starts to get remotely warm. I think you may be right about the wire though. It is still under warrenty with Best Buy, but something tells me those bastard wouldn't know how to open it up either. Thanks nonetheless
