What the title says.

I finally got the mini-HDMI - HDMI cable so my computer runs dual monitors.

I have set my Toshiba 40 inch to extended display, and yeah, running a video file is as easy as click'n'drag and all that jazz right?

But I cannot make my games run on the TV without making it the default screen which I do not wish to do so. I don't want to clone the monitor either as the resolutions are wrong...

Ideas?

You should be able to do that through your video card driver control panel. You may have to define it for each game you try to run, but once defined, they will always go there. Also, depending on your video card, there may already be keyboard shortcuts that will let you "send" the game to the other monitor.

Nice snappy response. Me likes.

I tried the monitor properties in the gfx controls but didn't think of the game settings - will have a looksie....

EDIT: Can't find anywhere in the "change game settings" in the NVIDIA panel where it says "Send game to screen 1 or 2" or anything like that....? I don't want the game running on BOTH screens - that kind of defeats the purpose. I'd like to be able to play a game while a mate watches a video or whatnot...

If you're running Windows 7 you can try <LeftWin> + <Shift> + <Right> (if the screen you want to move it to is on the right, or left if it's on the left)

Hrmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Tested that out on Steam (Poker Night at the Inventory) - a white almost full screen pops onto the TV when I do that, but the game screen stays on my 24" monitor... And yes, it comes and goes when I try pushing the left twice or the left/right.

So I tried to test it on Fallout 3.... Nothing happens.

BUT thank you for that incredibly awesome shortcut, definitely remembering that one for photoshoppin' and other stuff. Too bad it ain't the solution but I'll give you a +1
You should just be able to use the nvidia control panel to switch your primary display to the TV when you want to game on it. Unless they've changed it a lot since the old days the game only ever shows on the primary display

Sadly, looks like you are right. So I HAVE to fuck around with the settings every time huh? I'll keep the solution prize for a while - perhaps there IS a way - but if no love I'll award it to AndrewC as I actually learnt something awesome from him.
Ultramon also works very well for what you want but unfortunately you have to pay for it.

Fantastic but for forty bucks? Fuck that. =\

I WOULD buy it if it was say, $10 for infinite use.
It may help you.
