liquidsnakehpks: the minimum you could do is turn of the monitor and speakers when not needed but on the laptop i choose that option to turn of display after 5mins afk dont know how much it saves at all ?

hedwards: If you're interested you can find that information in the manual. But be aware that some of them lie, typically they're supposed to use less than 1w of electricity, or was that .1w? Anyways, some of them advertise it as different than what they actually use.
other than the sticker on the psu that says its 400watts, i have no idea on the consumption the only manual i got was the motherboard one
Hibernation has almost no side-effects. Well, until Windows crashes while restarting and you are forced to hard-reboot the machine, of course....

I prefer hibernating as less as I can, anyway....

Hibernation is generally used for laptops only as a way to save your session without consuming battery power. A desktop has no such issue since it's plugged into the wall. By default, desktop installations don't offer hibernation as a choice.
