Fenixp: - Morality system - Based on decisions in campaign or on your actions in MP (pursuing monsters means evil and letting them go means good, basically)
While your summary is stellar and sums up the game in great detail and in a way easy to understand... I'd like to point out that, as far as I know, it's NOT "good" vs "evil", it's not a "morality" system. It would've been extremely easy to simply use these 3 terms and yet the designers (AFAIK) consciously decided to call it "Tears", "Blood" and "Reputation" respectively. It's simply a measure of whether you're bloodthirsty and want to crush your enemies faster or are conservative, "merciful" and want to protect your units from damage at all costs. The terms struck me as odd quite a while ago but I've realized that regardless of the path you follow, your hero can be a despicable fiend or a righteous knight - it's more about the cause, what you're fighting for, who you're fighting against...

Which reminds me - the voice acting is (IMHO) stellar and as heroic of a fantasy setting as this might be, the characters seem... believable. The game even deals with issues like arranged marriages, domestic violence... I think the campaign will feel like more than simply a series of maps...

Hawk52: So, I was looking at all the DD sites comparing prices & taxes, and while doing so, I legitimately accidentally bought Heroes VI deluxe on GamersGate. I expected another confirm button.

So...Uh...I hope the game doesn't suck.
My friend, it was destiny and fate intertwined around your very life essence. It was meant to be, like peanut butter and jelly, like doctors and bills, like the cubs and losing. It was written in the great palatial sprial we call the stars. It was; etcetera etcetera....I just hope you do like it Hawk52. Please let us know (if you do play it) if it's awesome or not. :-D

On a side note, hope your pain gets better soon. Those pills, like the pain, can be nasty things indeed.

Yeah, these pills have been kicking my butt. Stupid teeth.

I've thought about it, and I think I'm going to let the preorder ride. I don't know how GG handles Pre Orders (It'd be nice if they let you preload/predownload like Steam does though), but I got it for a decent price.

I wanted the game, so might as well. I'm sure I'll be completely pissed off when it's knocked down 20/30% within a month though.

It is a strange coincidence, (another) one of my wisdom teeth is finally giving up the juice. I'm going to have to have it pulled soon myself. Been getting headaches from it, and I can't eat on that side presently. Probably in a couple weeks I will find me a dentist, again, and pop goes the weasel, if you get my meaning.
Well, if I was going to get it digital, I would definetly get it from Gamers Gate myself, so I think you did good getting it from them. True, it will go on sale soon enough, though I will probably wait for it to be 50% off, though of course if you say it's great, and the majority of other reviewers agree, I just may pull the trigger sooner...but, I don't know, I'm a penny pincher at times. ;) Still, thanks in large part to GOG, I have every one of the Heroes games ever made, and will most likely add #6 to my libary sooner rather than later. That and Skyrim are the only two games I can think of that I'm really interested in that are coming out any time soon...At least of the big name games. They just don't seem to be making as many titles that I like any more, guess, they are moving to the next generation, who perfer a different style overall then some of us old skoolers. Thank goodness for this vibrant independent market, mods, and GOG. :)
Again happy Heroes VI to you! :D And get that beast outta your mouth friend, it's just bad company. Truly, I wish you well.
Having played the demo, I'll just add a few things that are better or worse in my opinion.

The better:

Design - really like the art on the units, although you could say it has a lot of recycling from Armies of Exigo (Black Hole's first game)

Skill trees - they seem interesting, it would be interesting to see how you can tweak your hero/army trough these.

The worse:

The resources - the old system shone on most maps in the first half of the level where building speed was key to victory later on. Starving your opponent of some resource was also an option.

Town conversion and influence area - This is just terrible to me, does away with mixing of units and morale issues. Raids are less likely and teleporting units to the closest town just pushes you to the front line neglecting the conquered territory without consequences.

Morality - these are forced in almost every game nowadays and just make me hurl.

Speed - How long does it take me to play out my turn. In this category Heroes 6 seems to me even slower then number 5 which is the worst offence to me a Heroes game can make, considering Heroes 3 is the standard.

Lack of randomness - On one hand good balance is essential to a strategy game, but on the other random elements are more fun to overcome.

The speed issue is interesting to me. I can honestly say I've had the exact opposite reaction. Five's turns took forever but 6's are lightning fast, particularly the completion of the enemy's turns.

Then again, I always jack my speed settings way up in every HOMM game, so maybe that has something to do with it?
Speed is the most important thing for Heroes to improve. Turns don't necessarily need to be any shorter than they were before (in fact, I like long turns) but concurrency needs to work so that you don't have long waits between turns.

Heroes is a great game they begs to be played multiplayer, but with 2 players it takes twice as long and with 4 players it takes four times as long. Unless you can devote a week to nothing but playing then multiplayer isn't an option. Compare this to Civ 4 where everyone goes at the same time and there is only a short wait between turns - it's also a long game but you can play with friends and actually expect to finish a game.
I'm trying to cancel the GG Preorder.

I wasn't sure about it, but I sure as hell aren't now that Amazon is selling it for 39.99.

This prompted me to check Amazon.ca, which is selling it for $70. I think I'll go with GamersGate myself.

It's a big shame that Amazon tailors everything to the US market so often. They regularly have deals like this.

Especially considering that you can buy it digitally from Steam/GamersGate/Ubisoft for $50. Charging $20 extra just makes no sense.
They have it at that price because people are too lazy and still buy it from them
It's been almost three days, and I haven't heard anything from GamersGate support. Opened a ticket (twice), and I haven't gotten single reply.

It's a shame, but even though I like GamersGate and thought it was #2 after GOG, I cannot continue to use a site with this bad of support, at least on major purchases.

If I don't hear from GG support by late tonight, I'll probably just download the game. The money is already gone, and god knows when they'll contact me. There's no point in just sitting on the product for IF they ever contact me back.
