Hi I bought heroes of might and magic 3. It is the most awsome game. I love it. One thing I only play is the random map. So every game is different for me.

I am thinking of buying heroes of might and magic 4. Is it worth it? I heard some people didnt like it.

Also, very important does it come with random map generator?

If it were me i would get 1,2,3 & and pretend that they didnt make any more. I used to like 5 and looked forward to 6 but I got smarter :-P

In HOMM forums are a few threads about game differences, you might to take a look at them. I personally like H4, even though I am a minority.

And about what reaver894 said - for me the HOMM series died with the 3DO/NWC's bankrupt.

Personally, I like Heroes of Might and Magic IV, but this game is different from Heroes of Might and Magic 3. And there is no random map generator built in the game, but you can download one from this site. It's called H4Util, and it can generate random maps for Heroes of Might and Magic IV (read the included h4util.doc file, as it describes how to use the utility).

Heroes of Might & Magic IV was decent.

At least, it dared to have a vision of its own and many aspects of that vision were good.

Its successor, Heroes of Might & Magic V, is Heroes of Might & Magic III in 3D and for me this is one instance where the 3 doesn't improved anything and actually makes things worst (3D is usually a touchy thing in strategy games), kinda like 3D in the movie theaters.

The last thing I want to have in a game like Heroes of Might and Magic is having only a partial vision due to camera angles and obstacles blocking my view.

Hello. I am a Might and Magic fanboy.

HOMM4 is atrocious, as are 5 and 6. They're nothing but mindless franchise hijacks. "Hey, Jon made a really cool universe. Let's use his name and make another universe that's poorly disguised as his!"

Even if you ignore the fact that it's a Might and Magic game it's still terrible. Plays awful which mobile and spontaneous guards causing awful imbalances in multiplayer.

I'm gonna say don't bother. Just play the living day lights out of the first 3 HOMM games. There's more than enough content in each of them.

I'm fan of HoMM series. For me IV was bad mostly because of pseudo 3D combat field - it was so much much worse and so confusing :/. And for me combat is one of the most important things in whole series. I've preordered IV at these times with great expectations, but played a few missions then went back to my favorite III.

Heroes of Might and Magic IV is very much a personal preference. Some of us found it immensely enjoyable (I have no idea how many hours I've put into the game, but we're probably talking around 200 hours of /played), while others loathed it.

I think we can all agree that the music is the best in the series, however.

I may give it a shot later. But if it won't be fun, I'll gut you like a fish. :)

Have to admit i was not keen on number 4 i loved 3 and 2 but 4 i dont know if it was the graphics or the way some things had changed i just couldnt get myself into it.
