Hello, about 2 months ago I purchased Oblivion on steam but then uninstalled it. I recently reinstalled and when I go to play it and it crashes at the Bethesda logo.

It was working just fine before and my computer hasnt changed a bit.

Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: The error message says Oblivion has encountered a problem and needs to close

I don't have any experience with steam or oblivion but it sounds like you might have a registry error. There are a couple programs that'll check for registry errors, a google search should get you one.
Remember that this is just a guess and isn't a guaranteed fix.
no its not that, thanks though

Is there a crashlog anywhere? More info would be great.
Try to delete the Oblivion.ini. (the file is located at "My Documents/My Games/Oblivion" in normal version, no idea about where it is in the steam version) then try run game again. It helped me in the past.

Delete all traces of Oblivion in the users folders - I had the same problem and thought it was the game - its the leftover stuff in the user folders after deleting that causes problems when you reinstall.

That should definitely sort the problem out.
Thanks guys i'll let you know if it works
I cant find any of those files, any idead on where I can find them?

It should be in "My Documents/My Games/Oblivion" but if it's not then try in the steam folder:
Steam/Steam apps/Your Account Name/Oblivion
or
Steam/Steam apps/common/Oblivion
