Hello,
I've recently bought a bundled PC by HP (Desktop+Monitor) at the price of 630E; some of you may remember I had linked a slightly better machine (Mainly due to the vcard)...but, considered transport costs, new keyboard/monitor and whatnot, the price was basically the same. Also, I read the AMD cpu has basically the same performances as the i3 but consumes way more...
But what's the question here?
Actually, two questions.
First and foremost, HP assistance was not helpful at all.
I asked if changing the gpu would void the warranty, and I only obtained controversial answers. Anyone knows how this works? I've not seen any "Break this and warranty is void" seal in the back of the case.
Second question, my model (p6-2115elm) does not figure in the HP website, so I cannot provide exact specs (HP assistance managed to link me the wrong model after 15m...) but searching around I can -safely- argue it wields a 300W alimentator (Did not dare to open case until I receive a clear answer of how warranty works, since the seller told me the moment I open the case, it goes void. There's an hidden seal inside?).
Now, the pc wields a radeon hd7450 with 1gb, wich does -not- perform horribly, but that I never considered to keep for more than 2 months.
The HD7750 looks like a good candidate, can be found at 80ish euro, consumes less than its concurrents and is less noisy than the 6xxxx series. And boasts great performances.
I -hope- the mobo can support it (By all chances, it SHOULD, but cannot get down specs either), and have heard of people with HP machines installing that gpu just fine, with the standard alim.
But a thing I could never find, was the actual size of the card.
The case is only 16,5 cms large...will it fit?

Thanks for your answers,
Amez

Usually when you purchase a machine that is pre built if you tinker inside the case you void the warranty. I would say leave it well alone for the first 12 months and then change the graphics card over after that time.

What they usually do when buying the machine is give upgrade options on the spec whilst ordering to try and make more money from you.

Amez: Actually, two questions.
Card manufacturers make different size cards, here's the measures of a few of them.

I'm pretty sure you're allowed to open the case without voiding the warranty. At the very least the "warranty void if broken" sticker has to be visible.
