cschock: Way way back in the day long before many of you were born I made a few games. The first was a text-only nuclear bomber simulation written in BASIC for the TRS-80. The second was a Traveler character generator program for the CP/M operating system written in Pascal. I also designed and made an interstellar strategic warfare board game with cardboard counters, etc.

I've contemplated trying to make a game again with something like GameMaker. Perhaps I will at some point.
Nothing's stopping you from making that game --in fact, it might be enriched by your years of Wisdom. Wow, CP/M, haven't heard that in a long time. What does it stand for? Control Program / Master?

Cheers!

I think it stood for Control Program/Monitor. I could be wrong though.

InaneKorruption: Ever since then I've truly realized that everything happens for a reason and even the things that we believe are terrible had to have happened just so something as awesome as getting 100% on a huge assignment can happen.

TL;DR: I've created two games.
Wow, thank you for sharing that story! I once had to team up with a person in Biology class in high school to create a presentation for a group. I did an old "fall-back" on film strips, where I found a place that sold clear cellulose (which fit the film strip machines) and got fine permanent markers to draw on them.

We got an A grade for being a novel concept.

My senior year of High School, our English teacher divided the class into three groups, and we had to portray Christmas in the past, present and future. We were lucky enough to get the 'future' gig (but we had to go last), so we ended up with 10 minutes of a bogus news clip about a future family celebrating Christmas in the year 2000, and about 45 minutes of hilarious outtakes. Trust me, not laughing in front of the camera is difficult. We ended up with an A.

You are correct. I was just making a Tron reference there. :)
