HeDanny: - Tried navigating my house with my eyes clamped as tight as I can. Making a cup of coffee like this did not go well.
- Dug through my bookcase to find those Auslan books I've had for about 30 years but never gave them the time I intended. Could not find them, but I spent a fair while on google looking up the same information.
No wonder you couldn't find them, sign language doesn't work too well when you can't get visual information in.
Finally sat down and had a go at this VN (have played a few others before). Took 8 +hours but got through Emi's path. Love the writing, nice art style (im a fan of manga and anime) & music :). Looking forward to trying the other paths. I must say there's a lot of others i might look into judging from previous posts on this thread :).
I played Katawa Shoujo after reading it mentioned in this thread. I think the only other VN I've ever attempted to play was Bible Black and that was back in college. If Bible Black is actually considered a VN. It's the only game I could relate this one too. I didn't get very far in it. However, this one strangely hooked me to see it through. Very interesting and compelling story. I realize there are more paths I could've taken, but I feel satisfied with the one I ended with. I may try it again sometime in the future. May have to try to some more VNs as well.

Sabin_Stargem: Persona 3 & 4

ovoon: These have visual novel elements for sure, but I still wouldn't call them visual novels. They are my favorite games, but I still don't see how they qualify.
I've nearly forgotten about Persona. I believe the only one I ever played was the first, I never finished it but it was interesting at the time to say the least.

Which path did you take? And what ending - good or bad? ;)

I ended up running every day despite my physical limitations. And we were in love at the end. Trying not to spoil too much here. :D

+1 for the recommendation btw. I would have probably never taken the time to play it otherwise were it not for you all mentioning it in the other thread. Thanks.

Also, I found it odd that the relationship began forming with the girl it did. I thought I was pursuing another one. Was interesting.

I haven't played it yet, but I have heard so much about it that I plan on playing it pretty soon. It looks... well, interesting to say the least, and very original in concept to boot.

If you're looking into other VNs, I recommend you have a look at Fate/Stay night. ...I feel like I'm recommending that one a lot lately. Anyway, it's less romance and more action oriented, but it has strong characters (they are awesome, essentially all of them) with some emotional scenes, plus absolutely merciless on it's bad ends should you pick the wrong choice.

Yeah I ended up on the same path you did for my first playthrough. I got the good ending (without the use of a walkthrough), and of the 3 girl paths I've played so far it seems like the most natural building relationship of them all. Looking back on it and how it played out I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up being soulmates. I'm glad it was the path I took on my first playthrough cus it made it that much better. It could be that her theme music really makes my eyes water up too. It just hit me really hard in the gut, such an awesome game.

Well whatever the case, I just wish there were more games out there like this. Corny as my post sounds it puts most other story based games to shame. Very few can match it IMO just with the sheer emotional impact the game has and the amount of dialogue and text present as well. Planescape Torment is one of the few games I can think of that matches it on both ends of having large amounts of dialogue and text descriptions as well as an emotional story to go with it (and both aren't without humor as well). Same with the music as well, Planescape Torment and Katawa Shoujo have such engrossing music and soundtracks its like I can't even pick which one is better. They're too good.

I guess having played and loving Planescape Torment before I ever played Katawa Shoujo had a huge influence on me taking notice about Shoujo so long ago. I guess from now on I shouldn't hold off so much about playing certain games to "delay the first experience" that you'll only get the chance of experiencing once. I'm glad I finally got around to playing the game. It was worth every second of it and the developers should be proud of the work they put into it all those years.

I played demo when they were beginning the development. I know they finished it recently and I plan to play it again soon. Pretty unusual and I certainly didn't expect this kind of thing from 4chan users.
