drmlessgames: With WoW bringing in tons of cash i dont see any video game crash anytime soon.
Blizzard will survive, no doubt about that. They are the biggest developer right now, in terms of profit and manpower. They have a strong following, and are readying three future games (excluding the one or two yet unannounced projects), Diablo 3 and the two Starcraft expansions (and a possible new WoW expansion), all of which will sell at least a few millions each.

Its the other publishers that will be in trouble if a crash happens.

StingingVelvet: Speaking of funny money why does Wikipedia need like 400 million dollars a year to operate?

lukaszthegreat: ??

they want 20 million dollars "only" for 2010-2011. that's relatively small money for website so huge.
I thought I read somewhere that last year they got 400 million from that thing. Guess I was mistaken.

StingingVelvet: Eh?

I find it amazing that these hyped blockbuster games that supposedly sell very well still make no money. EA, Ubisoft, THQ... all these companies lose money every quarter. Supposedly gaming is rivaling movies in money earned but it still spends more money than it makes.

I mean... Rock Band 1, 2 and 3... Beatles Rock Band... that new Kinect dancing game... all of them hits, all of the well reviewed, and they operate at a loss? Really?

Come on video game crash!
Don't get your hopes up, they just learned to do accounting like Hollywood does, most likely anyway.

I would suspect music games really do lose money in a lot of cases, they require extra, huge licensing fees for music (and sometimes likenesses of artists) on top of normal stuff.
