Do you have Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale?

They're probably about as hack'n slash as Divine Divinity and Neverwinter Nights.
Deathspank and Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue... if you are in the mood for something lighthearted, colorful and funny.

I loved it because it was so different than any other H&S on the market - in tearms of the art style (which is amazing) and TONS of humor (which is sometimes off, sometimes spot on, but generally funny) - and because Ron Gilbert worked on it. ;)

Hmm. I musta chosen Necro as my class. I forgot to check up on this thread again, that's unlike me.

Thank you very much for the suggestions - some, like Deathspank, sound fantastic but won't run. Others...well, I think it's finally time for me to start saving my money and buy that Diablo Chest that Blizzard sells for $40. The one with all the strategy guides and manuals and boxart and deliciousness included. I've never played Diablo, but considering it's the founder of my absolute favorite game genre, it's about time I did.
I would advise trying to find a copy of Hellfire too. It's a fun little expansion, especially if you reactivate the other classes.

Hmm...wouldn't that be included in the complete Diablo collection? Not a sarcasm, just curious.

No, it wasn't made by Blizzard. There is a pack that has it, but that's the Diablo battlepack, with only the first one and as far as I know it hasn't been included in any other of the packs. Hellfire really isn't canon, but little elements from it have found their way into Diablo 2.

Oh, I see! Thanks for the tip! Another great reason to pick up the battlechest edition, or whatever they're calling it. Physical media is much easier to manipulate than some digitally downloaded overly DRM'ed installer.

I believe the battle chest in the Blizzard Store only contains Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction. You're not missing much by skipping Diablo 1 anyway.
Ooh, you're right.

I am trying very hard to find a boxed copy of Torchlight in a local store. They must have stopped shipping it or something. I hate Direct2Drive, stuff from them's a pain in the arse to deal with and that's who I bought my first copy from.

I should probably advise you to play Diablo vanilla first. Hellfire is basically Diablo with some extra stuff (some of which is quite difficult), plus it costs by itself on Amazon between $18 and $44. Also, Diablo in the first one is a bit of a pushover, and Hellfire upped the deadliness apparently.

I'd try both of them, though I prefer the first one so that might be influencing me a bit.

Almost no one stocked Torchlight, I found a copy at Best Buy, couldn't find any other retailer stocking it.

There is no DRM on the boxed copy, digital version has DRM though (Steamworks if you get it from Steam or some other activation scheme if not, SecuROM I think).

Careful with Torchlight, each version has its own executable build and there's a patch for each version because of it. You can end up patching DRM into your DRM free install or just hose the install.
