Activision pulled the plug on Guitar Hero and True Crime. Apparently, they're planning on re-organizing all their efforts towards Call of Duty, the new unannounced Bungie game, and a few secret IPs.

Now, I could care less about Guitar Hero, but True Crime: Hong Kong looked interesting, so I'm a little bummed.

What also concerns me is that they are putting all their eggs in a select number of baskets. The only deal they really have going for them now is Call of Duty, and Bungie (who they don't even own). I bet that the Toy Fair reveal is some sort of plushie that ties back into Call of Duty. I don't think Activision has any outs if Call of Duty starts to tank hard, or World of Warcraft subscriptions dwindle.

They could do:

Call of the Lichking: World of Warcraft at War

Instant classic.
Activision are going to fall hard if they keep up with this single minded obsession with one multi-million dollar franchise and quite frankly I couldn't be happier after what they did to Bizzare Creations. Wankers.
I never liked Guitar Hero or Rock Band for that matter. But the fact that they killed True Crime makes me sad.
Guitar hero was great back in the day but this is what happens to a saturated product, I did see this coming since last year. I had great times with the first few games, but the gimmick did die soon after. TC though, I can't say I'm sad to see it go, the first one had cool combat, but poor in every other regard. TC: New york city was atrocious though. Thanks to so severe bugs (car spinning, save deleting, clipping issues, hit reg,), weird controls, piss poor performance on ps2 (if felt and looked like it was running at 15 FPS), a hopelessly generic story and woolly car handling, I laughed at the idea that it was ever considered a GTA killer.

From what I read of the new one, it was a unremarkable, copy paste of current sandbox games that had no unique feature or game play ideas.

Good riddance.

You forgot the Move.
never played ether game's so i don't really care.
I don't care about Guitar Hero and never did, but losing out on an open world action game sucks. Even if it was average I bet I would have got a lot of enjoyment out of it, like say Saint's Row 2 or Just Cause.

Oh well.

Considering that Activision gets literally all their money from WoW subs and Call of Duty online multiplayer I honestly can't believe they haven't transitioned into a completely online services business yet. Maybe they are?
They canceled True Crime: HK? Fucking assholes, True Crime was like, the best sandbox game of the last generation and they can it because they want to spend their time making yet another fucking COD game? What's really stupid is that just a week ago EGM put out an article about True Crime HK and how it was going to kick ass.

So Activision isn't evil. They're just fucking retarded businessmen.

I love how the comments are all YAY GUITAR HERO IS DEAD but they've forgotten about that other game.

They should have called it the Waggle. Something memorable.
