Dandarez: Too much cheese in hardcore these days.
The "cheese" is what I love about it :) Seems I'm not much of a hardcore fan, probably just like everything that's crazy fast :D

EDIT: I've listened to all the songs you've posted here and must say they're GREAT, banging my head through the headphones :) but that first one, it just has something special, the vocals, the violins, the mood... I guess I'm getting soft :D

Balazs: Umm, I'm sorry, but in what way is post-rock close to trance?:D

DukeNukemForever: Maybe only in my little music world ;-) Talking about the older songs I listened to I find in both genres repeating melodics while getting faster and slower, having ups and downs. Both type of genres try to create sound landscapes and differ in that way from other genres like punk and techno hardcore. Personally I got the feeling that trance got with mainstream success more softer, while older songs had more harder parts, more ups and downs and were faster. That's what I see in Kunovskis track and why I see it more as a trance song, having a very melodic beginning, getting faster and then explodes. And that's exactly the structure I find in most post-rock songs. Maybe not really fitting the real genre specifications, but that's how I order that genres for myself ;-)
Hm, I see your point here. Their structure is somewhat similar, but the atmosphere a post-rock song creates is completely different from the atmosphere of a trance song (at least the ones I've heard so far, I'm not a huge far of the genre). If I wanted to compare it to an electronic genre, the closest I can think of is trip-hop, but that's the kind of similarity only I see. :x

That's exactly the problem with thegenres, they are so fluent and sometimes so close. Trip-Hop (playing the latest Portishead album in my mind) can also be very close to both genres. I believe the problems here is that trance is for me mostly the older stuff, as example more the older Sven Väths tracks. Maybe to get an idea, here is an example what trance was mostly personally for me. Again, that's completely based on my memories and experiences, my own little music world ;-)

Edit: I'm sure my example (Sven Väth - The Beauty and the Beast) is not trance, it's just techno. That's ok ;-)

Haha, yeah, genres can get confusing, plus I don't think they're good for anything more, than to give you guidelines when searching for some new music.
Anyway, that song was.. definitely interesting and I do get what you're saying a little more now. But this kind of music really far from my world, because while I do enjoy some electronic music, it's mostly genres with some ambient influence, and most of the time I listen to metal/rock anyway. :x
right, the genres are often hard to determine (in fact sometimes i wonder if something like genre really exists, it's happened to me more than often that I listen to a song and ask around to recommend something of a similar genre - and nobody seems to know anything even close :)

the old guru Ishkur took his time a while ago and made this guide to electronic music... even though he obviously made up some of the genres, it gets everyone quite a good picture of what's available in the electroworld...

still, my search for a sister as beautiful and brutal as Forgotten Moments seems to continue :o) a part of me kind of wants it to continue forever, keeping this one unique...
