Delixe: I've been planning on upgrading my old Raddy 4850 512MB for a long time but looks like I will finally have the cash next Friday so i'm looking to spend around €200 but I cant make my mind up between the GTX460 1GB and the Raddy 6850 1GB. I've been looking at reviews and both cards are extremely close in most benchmarks. What I want to know is if anyone has used any of these cards and what you think of them personally.
Incidentally it's currently a toss up between the
Zotac GTX460 AMP! and the
Sapphire 6850 Toxic.
One very important thing to remember. Nvidia has the best technology and supports nearly every new game thats released with out graphical issues.
For legacy games EG Gog catalog stuff and games from a few years back you'll want an ATI card they run core software that renders the older tech without as many issues as Nvidia. EG, Alien vs Predator wont even run on a Nvidia system, only ATI will render it with special parameters
So your real question is, do you go Nvidia where stability, compatibility, and temperature control are #1 or go with ATI where legacy compatibility is your goal. ATI also handles multi monitors better then Nvidia, much better. There more energy efficient too.
