So I was playing Gothic 3 and before I go on let me just say that I really enjoy it. Its fun, expansive, and has plenty of stuff to keep me occupied. But as I played on I had this realization: this game plays a lot like a MMORPG. Sure, you don't have asshole Night Elves ruining your fun but you do have this sense that the world doesn't revolve around you. Perhaps it was the endlessly respawning aggros or the many many fetch quests or the mobs that endlessly patrol 3 square feet of dirt in wait of unsuspecting adventurers. Does anyone else have this same feeling in Gothic 3?

Absolutely not. I found to be extremely immersive (just like Gothic I and II).
Were the quests really that bad? I don't remember it being all fed-ex.

They're kind of fed-exy. All games like this are though, really. The reason it stands out in MMOs is because there's no immersion or real roleplaying to distract you.

I don't think G3's are any worse than others in the genre.

I guess that all RPGs are fundamentally fed-exy, it's just that some disguise it better then others. Personally I think that Gothic 3 does it rather well.

Pretty much. He's early on, which is probably why it feels more obvious. I think all the Gothic games start you off doing relatively minor stuff.
I heard the grinding part of the game make it similar to MMO. But i'm not sure i haven't try it myself.

Towards the end when the story picked up it was a lot less MMO-y, but yes the beginning and middle are more of where this is coming from.

In Gothic 2 you got to pick turnips.
At least it doesn't have the combat of an MMO like Final Fantasy XII. Press button, then just sit there and watch until all the enemies are dead. Most entertaining game I ever played.
