Dear GOG users,

We have recently had to give serious thought to whether we could really keep GOG.com the way it is. We've debated on it for quite some time and, unfortunately, we've decided that GOG.com simply cannot remain in its current form.

We're very grateful for all support we've received from all of you in the past two years. Working on GOG.com was a great adventure for all of us and an unforgettable journey to the past, through the long and wonderful history of PC gaming.

This doesn't mean the idea behind GOG.com is gone forever. We're closing down the service and putting this era behind us as new challenges await.

On a technical note, this week we'll put in place a solution to allow everyone to re-download their games. Stay tuned to this page and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates.

All the best,
GOG.com Team

I sure hope so cause GoG is the most awsome place to come.
You got that in your email? That's the PR stunt that was on the front (and then only) page. So yeah, it's a hoax.
yep got it in my email a few days ago haven't had a chance to visit my email with work and all I didn't check the headers to see where it came from, just saw the message and my heart broke in several little pieces. Had to come here and see if this was for real or a joke one of my friends was playing on me.

I didn't realise they sent that thing out as an email. No wonder so many people were pissed off about that PR stunt. Personally I was more concerned about the state GOG was (and still is) in before the stunt. Dunno what's going on with GOG these days, but the answer seems to be 'not nearly enough'.
Someone is actually trying to send out the publicity stunt message as spam? To what end?

Chaos. It's a goal AND a religion.

And a great religion at that!

I think he's just being very slow to react to the news. Maybe some kind of delayed shock or something?
Perhaps he was in a coma?
If you missed a couple of week's from checking the website and you have a bookmark to the forums, I can see you not noticing anything new.

GOG pulled off a Public Relations stunt that pissed off loyal customers but brought in a whole bunch of people concerned with the future of the website. They even shut down and everything but it was just to leave beta and announce Hasbro had joined the fold along with the very coveted D&D games.

Don't know why you'd get that in your e-mail. I don't remember getting one.
Yea I confirmed the email it was from a friend who wasn't aware of the PR stunt and saw the letter on GOG's home page and copy'd it and sent it to me knowing how much I love this site and of coarse the Witcher game which by the way I can't wait for Witcher 2 I just hope they put in a jump key this time hehe. So I sent him an email letting him know about the PR stunt and that GoG isn't going anywhere...<Whew>!
