It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I was helping a gogger buy some games and was using my paypal(funded to the right amounts) to pay for them, buying two copies then trading them to him and so on. On the last copy he wanted I hit my cc as payment by accident(which was empty) and it got declined.....I then tried using paypal again to buy the last copy(with enough funds) and got this error:

There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

I sent a support ticket in and have been trying to remedy the situation but so far nothing has worked......cancelling the items in the cart and readding them, signing out then in again, etc.

Edit: It seems I can still buy via the browser window but not via the client.....odd. The gogger i'm buying for says it may be due to some errors in the cache or cookies of the steam client and that I should clear them out. How would one do this exactly?

Try going to

Steam\config\cookies

There is a db file there - not sure what it does so just rename the file and restart steam client - if it works great - if it doesnt rename it back

Cant see how the above will break your steam client - just hope it works

I will try this later on.........and if no one else answers I will mark this thread solved in the next hour. Thanks.
Steam is VERY sensitive about payment info. I used to be able to trick it and buying at US prices for a long time but then they got stricter and I had to make a Steam account with a US IP to then gift games to myself - when checking credit card info, they didn't check for the country of origin. Then after the Summer sale, they changed that too and now I have no other alternative anymore but to ask people to gift stuff to me.

Anyway, long story short: if Steam thinks the info is somehow incorrect, it will always give that error.

Even if you are in the same "pay zone" but different country (Sweden & Germany), Steam will decline. They have gotten really paranoid about this

Thing is my info was correct. I just hit the wrong payment method once(I have several registered) and selected an empty cc by mistake. After it was declined I tried using my paypal which I had used up until that point and it threw up an error.

The browser worked fine though, just the client gave the error(I switched to the browser after trying to fix the error on the client to no avial. I'm gonna delete the cookies or whatever later on and also hopefully get a reply from support with more info to follow up on.
