willyum: Firefly; while the movie was decent, the brilliant writing of the TV series practically screamed for more.

gooberking: I know this is internet suicide, but as a simi-Whedonite, I didn't get Firefly.

I liked the movie well enough, but I really struggled to get interested in the characters(save Nathan who is always likable) at least in my initial exposure to it. Had it run more than a few episodes then I might have started to come around. As it was it came and went before I had a chance really make up my mind about it.

From what I have seen of it I'm having the same problem with Agents of SHIELD, I just don't really like anyone.
I don't think that's internet suicide; to each their own, after all. To be fair, I initially didn't care much after watching the first few episodes. But since we had the DVD box set, I grew to appreciate the series more. I felt that to fully appreciate the movie, one would have to have seen the TV series first. But yeah, Nathan Fillion is superb.

I haven't watched too many episodes of Agents of Shield, but I feel the same as you. I don't really care about any of the characters. Which is probably why I haven't bothered to watch any more.
More than anything else, my favourite series, The Wire. Firefly is another, though it was cancelled so quickly that the episodes produced almost feel like a "mini-series" to me.

Among shows which had good long runs and ended with good closure, but which I'd still have loved to see more of, I'd count Breaking Bad, The Shield, ST the Next Generation & ST Deep Space 9.

The Wire is undoubtedly my favorite overall show too, but I actually think it ended well. Then again, I would love to see it have continued for the rest of the writer's, director's and actor's lives so I'm not exactly being reasonable with that one:).

DS9 and TNG too I feel similarly about, especially DS9. I don't read any of the ST Tie-in novels because while I can get behind gaming tie-ins tv and film adaptations feel hollow and empty to me. Unfortunately that is where much of the continuing stories of the two crew's happens.

monkeydelarge: Yeah but it would of been nice if they didn't stop after the Waterloo episode and then continue with the next episode almost 9 years later. Sean Bean is not an immortal unfortunately. You have to use him while you can for your TV shows and movies. :)
Oh I concur completely, as I said the "Old Bean" isn't getting any younger. At least Sharpe won't end with his death, hopefully. Might be the first role he's ever held where he won't die!

gbaz69: Wish Stargate SG1 was never cancelled. Nor any of the Star treks.

Shows I did watch, that had no ending, that I want finished are:
John Doe
Jericho

And I would like these 2 cartoons back:
Young Justice
Futurama
Jericho was great, especially the early episodes.
