I just found this link from an old thread and I'm quite sure that it's either not supposed to be there or it's not supposed to look like that.

Anyways, just thought I'd share this piece of forgotten GOG history.

Good find. That was "removed" in one of the site updates long ago. I remember seeing that page (with design matching the rest of the site) back when they were still Good Old Games and there was an alternative vertical logo.

The logo.zip file has been updated though, logo_big.png had "GOOD OLD GAMES" as subtext in two tones of gray before.
