Yes, Linux confirmed!

Now, this is a news post that's a true pleasure to write. We want to announce that, after much deliberation, we've decided that one of the next steps for us is to support Linux. Now, we're not ready to launch Linux games on GOG.com just yet. We've only been working on bringing these Linux games to our service for a few months, and there's lots more to go, but we wanted to let you know what's going to be coming this fall to a digital distributor near you.

We're initially going to be launching our Linux support on GOG.com with the full GOG.com treatment for Ubuntu and Mint. That means that right now, we're hammering away at testing games on a variety of configurations, training up our teams on Linux-speak, and generally getting geared up for a big kick-off in the fall with at least 100 Linux games ready for you to play. This is, of course, going to include games that we sell which already have Linux clients, but we'll also be bringing Linux gamers a variety of classics that are, for the first time, officially supported and maintained by a storefront like ours.

This is, as we mentioned, something that we're in the early stages of, so we can't talk about what games will be a part of our GOG.com on Linux gaming launch--in part because we, ourselves, don't know what those games are--but we hope that you're excited about the fact that we're able to set "GOG.com Support for Linux" in our community wishlist as a task that is "In Progress." We know we are!

techieg33k: I am glad to see this option in the works. I'm a huge fan of Mint for Desktops and am not too far off from leaving Windows behind completely...
I have an old Dell Inspiron Laptop which was running XP which I abandoned for Mint. The laptop has never run better, greatly looking forward to Linux support for the older classic games that won't require modern graphics cards.

Linux Mint has been my go to Linux for a while now, since version 13 I believe. I've been very happy with it. MATE for older hardware, and Cinnamon for newer hardware.
Please, don't forget to take a walk with SteamOS Linux too. It's Debian and very close to Mint, so it maybe be easyer than you think to support it.
And imagem the marketing to be the first non Steam store to be available on SteamOS? :)

DAFFYDAFFY: playonlinux and their forum are a linux geeks fap zone and not user friendly.

Daliz: It is not a perfect newbie solution but a very useful piece of software and free non-profit project (unlike GOG for example) so.. please keep those words to yourself.
TOO LATE!

Playonlinux is a useful program for some games ,but it's not geared up to make it easy for the majority of gamers.
Yes, a few games do work well ,but just go look at the forums and read a few posts.
i stand by what i originally said.

Any guess on when this will roll out? Or more so, is it basically just going to be GALAXY to have the support talked about in march? So we are really just waiting on the launcher?
