Why don't they have them?

Gamerlord: Why don't they have them?
Because gifting individual games is just more fun, and has better novelty.
It's a cool idea, but I think it would be a counterproductive financial endeavor for GOG.

But when I first thought of that, I imagined them trying to figure out which stores in what part of the world to put gift cards.
Now I imagine them selling gift cards on this website for people to give to their family and friends. That would probably work better.

Really, both options should be available. I kind of like the idea of being able to get a physical card good for one game here. It would be a lot more comfortable for me to give than to worry about getting the email address correct, when I could just pay to get it shipped to me.

Although, that's probably expensive enough to do that I don't see it as happening. More likely it would be a gift code, which would also be awesome as I wouldn't have to worry about them already owning the particular game.
They'd be awesome mainly for two reasons: in-store promotion (very valuable), and more appropriate gifting for birthdays, holidays, etc.
Getting in-store involves buying shelf space and the like. Plus, most game retail stores don't really like digital distribution (cuts into profits).
You can buy gift codes for games already. Putting these codes on cards and distributing them to retailers around the world seems wasteful in just about every sense imaginable.
I didn't say they had to be IRL, they could be digital, something like an email saying "Hello, "Insertnameofdearrelativehere" has given you a GOG gift card worth $XX.XX. Message: "Here you go, happy birthday!", Redemption code: XXXXX" or something like that.

I was hoping for the same thing (the e-mail variety gift card). People are already asking me what I want for christmas and I was hoping to send them a link to purchase a digital gift card from GoG. I would also like to give them to people for christmas.
This has been suggested many times before and I thought the GOG guys said they would like to do it, so it is likely somewhere on their "to do" list already. Considering they already have the ability to generate codes that allow you to pick whatever game you want for free, it really shouldn't be that hard to do.
Maybe they could make a printable one for each game.
