I see what you did there...nicely worded :).

iphgix: I have noticed this as well. And my children, have even gotten into the GOG evangelism. One of my eldest sons friend's fathers was talking about buying the WItcher III on steam and my eldest was all, 'WHY? why would you pay the same price for one DRM license when you could buy it on GOG, and get it DRM free. Then (his daughter) could play as well.' Typical this guy was doing the 'All of my games are on steam and I do not want to manage two accounts.' My son said 'All of your music used to be on CDs too...things change'.
If they do the same thing as they did with W1 and W2 he'll be able to register his copy on GOG as well thus getting 2 copies for the price of one. And with Steam sales, perhaps even for the price of three quarters of one.
GOG is picking on steam!
tha big meanie >:o

I just want a proper DRM-free option for every game when feasible, so I'm glad GOG is showing publishers that there is a demand for such games. And it's good to see something like 3D Realms' new webstore doing DRM-free properly (since the old one restricted downloads to a limited time after purchase).

And another reminder that we gamers can help push for DRM-free releases. Ghostlight wrote about how requests for GOG releases meant that they'll be bringing their games here:

Capcom wrote that the number of requests affects what they will release. Sega released Valkyria Chronicles on PC after so many requests. I know we can keep the fire going. So be sure to vote up games and write to publishers and developers. And of course buy DRM-free. :)

That's great!
Today is a good day!

Thanks for the info!
No enigmatic hint for this one then. ;)

snowkatt: can i start quoting that from your son ?

i think its a delicious succint phrase
Heh people fear change. I use a lot of analogies and my Son is a mini version of me...as annoying as that me be sometimes!

The analogy is even better since I have an older van, which means I need to have CDs for the van, and MP3 digital format for everything else.
"Steam", you say?

Yes, indeed :)
(nothing against Steam personally, but that screen is a nice piece of gaming history :))

Oh, wow.
I really need to try SiN one of these days...
Gog has already 861 games in the catalog (plus a few more that were removed and are only available to those who bought them before the removing). I wonder how many games are on steam.....
But my point is that people who buy on steam might get lower prices and a few digital conveniences, but the people who buy on gog are more stable as customers. I came to gog because I was looking for a specific game, I knew what I wanted and found a site that fits my needs. Whenever I'm on steam it's more like searching which of the games available would be good enough to try it........ I get lost in searching almost every time

It's removed from recent Steam \ GOG re-release :( But the game is pretty decent, give it a try!

tfishell: They'll diss Origin
As it deserves. DRM is a wide spectrum of interventions. GOG, of course, is DRM-free. Steam often employs CEG and necessitates a client, which is my personal (and relunctant) threshold of tolerance for DRM. Uplay is a joke, so I won't bother outlining it here. Origin has SecuRom attached to all of its titles in addition to the client, which to me is unacceptable, despite reports of the client being otherwise functional.

Also, "GOG seems to be picking up steam"? Surely that was on purpose ;)
The sad reality .... though , just maybe one day it will be the other way around ..
