alright, let's do this shit freeform. i've been playing, here's what i think:
DX is a perfect example of a game which depends completely on how you play it. i tried guns blazing and silent assassin before and neither sucked me in. the first was boring and the second left me quickly out of darts and prod charges, and made me feel bad about the casualties--i always have to be a good guy and this game totally judges you throughout the story.
so this time, for the game club, i decided to aspire to paul denton's standards. my favorite weapon is my trusty baton and i use my dart crossbow with only tranq darts. i take down as few terrorists as i can, and always knock them unconscious, never kill. i never waste any items, i'm usually running around with 10+ lockpicks and multitools, the game usually gives you a way out of using those items if you're patient enough to find it.
so far, i'm actually having a blast. i thought this game wasn't for me but once i started to get the hang of it and found a playstyle i preferred, i really started enjoying it. levels, for me, are painfully long and often repetitive with lots of backtracking, but i get all the xp and feel accomplished when i finish one. this isn't the sort of a game for a quicki play session, i have to be in the game a while to get sucked in and enjoy it. and the amount of fun i have completely depends on the level, some of them i really dislike.
continue the convo, goggers!
