budejovice: I’m actually coming from the north – Seattle. I’m a county highpointer and looking at attempting Plumas, Butte, Lake, and Colusa counties. I’ve already done Copernicus… the highest point in Santa Clara Co. :)

mrkgnao: Never heard about this pastime before. Had to read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highpointing.
Sounds like just the kind of sport that would appeal to a gamer.
As noted in the article, county highpointing (cohping) is kind of ludicrous in the US with 3142 possibilities. A couple of people have hit 2000.

All the info anyone would ever need is at cohp.org.

Here's my fun map of completed counties. :) http://peakbagger.com/map/CoHPMapStaticW.aspx?cid=1721

Edit: Very cool that Bob Packard is mentioned in the wikipedia article. I haven't had the chance to cohp with him in the US, but did climb the highest point of the Federal District in Mexico (Cerro Ajusco) with him in 2012. :)

Edit2: Thanks trentonlf!

Totally missed this.

Looking over the list of folks signed up, it looks like you have some new faces. Good deal.

Ahh well, let me know if you need a replacement. :)

Game has not started yet, and I believe we were needing another one ;)

Ah, cool deal, then sign me up. :)

From the post in the Mafia Admin thread that lead me here, I got the impression that it was an alternate/replacement only thing now.

Good timing I just finished up a (late) night and thought I'd log in here. Krypsyn you're in as our last! After getting the go aheads I was looking for I'm going to start this tomorrow. I know the timing is a bit short, but even if it's a slow start I want to get the roles assigned and the game thread "up and running" as, if my numbers are correct, tomorrow is a bit of as special full moon date!

I'll open the main game thread up and PM all who signed up - if the first day or so is slow because of my short notice start, so be it. If I have to "false start" the game because people need to drop out after roles are assigned, so be it but I want to at least try and start the game tomorrow - hopefully we can get off and running so stand by for PMs and reply "bumps" to this thread!

I was not sure if there is free spot myself.

May I ask you about your username. Why do you have it? It is very... interesting, I would say. :-)
Werewolf is a very basic mafia type game. In fact it was the only game of this type I played prior to these forums. The voting pattern analyzing etc, pretty much the same as a normal Mafia game. The tricky part is the Seer. The Seer cannot come out and say they are the Seer or they die for sure in the night since there is no doctor. It can create suspenseful moments since the Seer might know who one of the two Wolves are, but cannot say anything.

You can often find a group of people playing this live in the wee off-hours of gaming conventions to pass the time...
Backup player reporting in for when the unexpected but inevitable dropping out of half the people that have signed up occurs.
This one's live!

Bugger -missed this one - sign me up as a replacement!

I think I told the story a bit better elsewhere on the gog forums, including reference to a cute girl, but here's the one I was able to find after a quick search. :)

Edit: which was actually in response to the same question, asked by this thread's originator, Ixamyakxim. :)

Yup, when I saw Vitek ask the question the first go around I laughed at my desk! It was even funnier that within about a week or two of asking, I walk into the local homebrew shop and the woman behind the counter informs me "We just got in a bunch of new yeast! Check this one out... buda... budejoe... budajoevich? Funny name right?"

Thanks for explanation.
That's cool. But Ixamykxim, I wouldn't exactly call it funny name. České Budějovice is actually my home town. :-)
That's why it piqued my interest. I wondered why someone from US has it as nick on gaming forum and if it can by any chance mean something else as well.
I am glad you liked it there. :-)
