It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I downloaded some of my games last night using the downloader. It saved a bunch of chunks, not one file with an ICON like I get when I download with browser. I wanted to archive them so that I could install.play while my internet was tied up with an 8hr Steam download.

But I want one file, can the chunks be reassembled? Maybe its automatic, I just won't try it till I know what will happen.

If not I can redownload, but I did all my big games since It was going overnight. It took all night too, cause there was 23 min left when I got up. I only used the downloader so I could que them all up.
It sounds like you didn't let the downloads finish - once they're done, they get reassembled by the downloader into the same installer executable you would get through a browser.
I just came back form looking at them, but you were fast, only one still had chunks. Maybe I can restart the downloader and it will complete. However, the one where I used the browser has an Icon, the others don't.
It looks like even the one where there are chunks, it finished (cause the last chuck is small), and it reassembled, it just didn't delete the chunks. I readded it to the downloader, and since it could see it was done did nothing.

I can delete the chunks, I just need to test to make sure the file is good.

I LOVE GOG by the way, I am not upset at all either, just trying to figure out how it works. U bought all my classic favorites from them, even thought I own them on CD. No copy protection and needing CD to play is well worth it. Plus they work on Win 7, which I will eventually have to use.
Sometimes the downloader reassembles the file but it doesn't erase the chunks (it happened to me when I downloaded the Witcher 2). I'ts a known but that I don't think has ever been solved. IMO the GOG team needs better coders because the old downloader also had its fair number of problems that were never solved.
I downloaded another game with the browser, and it also had an ICON, but it was the same little orange circle. So it's not a big deal, I just hate that blank page default ICON. Funny thing is, the ones I downloaded with the browser have just 1 ICON in the exe file, the circle. The ones using the downloader have no icons in the exe. So there is a slight difference in the exe depending on how you download it.

If you did not get the "orange circle" icon (by the way, that's the default icon for an InnoSetup executable), you may not have a clean download. You should get an executable with an orange circle whether you used the downloader or the browser.

To be specific, you should get identical results (a single "orange circle" executable if the download is no more than approx. 2GB; an executable and a number of .bin files if it's larger) with the downloader or the browser. (However, the downloader may fail to delete all the .chunk files. If you got the complete .exe and .bin files, you can ignore the .chunk files.)

Not everybody's rig does a good job of handling a swarm of little files (which is what the downloader pulls down) or the swarm of threads the downloader starts.
That is semi-bad news. No orange circle was on anything I got with the downloader. I only used it so I could download a bunch at once and let the computer run overnight. It took all night and was still running when I got up.

Probably I should just redownload them 1 by 1 with the browser, just in case. I got forever, I usually just buy my favorites from the past and have never played one yet, in months:) I was downloading HOMM6 from Steam for 8.5 hours and it was tying up my net so I couldn't do anything else. I thought, what a great time to try a GOG game and realized I couldn't cause I didn't download any and now my internet was busy.

The setup file checks the files integrity before installing so if it passes the check your download should be okay. I've gotten installers with and without their icons downloading from the browser and from GOG downloader and all of them worked fine.
OK, I can now tell you that none of the big downloads ever have the orange circle, even when you use a browser to get them.

I was worried for nothing. For one game it didn't delete the chunks, but it did get them all and assemble correctly, I just had to delete the chunks.

I haven't tried them yet because there are a few projects on the burner (Heroes 6 mostly), but I am pretty sure the downloads are good now. And I got all the manuals too. My whole library can now be used without the net.
