It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Last time the site went down (for the end of beta) we gave our users a free game. While we're not going to claim that this will always happen, it's true that we have another one for you guys today. But before we go into that, let's tell you about the exciting new features that we've added to GOG.com:

As announced during our presentation on CD Projekt Days Spring Conference, the update adds two highly requested by users improvements: a new downloader application and personal messages. The new downloader has been made from scratch by GOG.com developers and features multithreaded downloads for performance, automatic error checking and runs only when user is downloading something from GOG.com. The downloader is not a client application and is optional to use, although recommended for downloading big games, like i.e. The Witcher 2.

Personal Messaging, the second biggest feature of the Spring Update, is a combination of instant and private messaging. The system will have fully configurable privacy settings and just like the downloader is completely optional. Aside of those two changes, the team has introduced many various improvements to make the user experience even better - those include improved checkout system, update to work flawlessly on newest browsers and easier to use coupon system.

Finally, as the cherry on top for the Spring Update Sundae (man, we could really go for some ice cream), the we released Dragonsphere, free to all users. The game is an adventure point-and-click title by famous MicroProse and features excellent story, clever puzzles and simple yet appealing graphics. “It’s easy to lose yourself in this fresh, engaging game” according to PC Gamer. This adds to our already existing catalog of free titles, bringing the total up to five.

Have fun with the new features and enjoy your new free game (in a little bit)!

andhar: for now, by hovering the mouse over one´s message here in the forums you can select on the left side, next to the profile picture, "PM".
Ah, thanks, stupid browser was caching the page and thus preventing me from seeing the new gimmick. Had to force a refresh ;)
Another free game! :D

The only problem with the updates so far seems to be that the image on the tab for the PM setting on 'My account' page has messed up. It has ended up cut off and isn't fully visible.

Edit: Never mind F5 fixed it.

Btw, could anyone give us some details about 'various improvements'? I'm curious what are they.

And I've noticed some problems with the forum - posts appear later on forum while I'm directly in this thread (i can see last message 60), than when I'm reading this thread from the main website (message 64 while i'm writing this) .

Fujek: *is puzzled*
Has the update already been released right now (I think it was issued somewhere around this time) and if so, how does one send/receive private messages through GoG now?
Mouse over a user's name in the forum. Click PM.
Thanks, nice looking update and a free game.

Can someone please point out how to use the new downloader?
I can't find a download link and when trying to download a purchased game using the downloader nothing happens.
(using Firefox 3.6.17)
I'm using Comodo Dragon web browser (based on Chromium 10 engine), but i can't add my games into the new downloader. Nothing happens when i clicked on the link provided.

Another thing does the new downloader can save my account profile? So i don't need to enter my profile and password each time i login.
Great update! Another free game from GOG. Everything goes into right direction :D
I can't see any new posts in this thread, including my previous one.
I cleared cache etc. but it didn't help.

The GOG downloader is now working for me. It didn't show trying to download an already purchased game, but it did when I wanted to download Dragonsphere.

Most notable one is the new checkout page (shows your wishlisted games and some recommendations + there're are now more ways to interact with you order + the page is streamlined and cleaned up a bit).

Other things are some improvements / optimizations / bugfixes on... various parts of the site... the specifics are boring trust me ;)
something seems to be messed up with the site cache... I do always see new posts on the overview, but when I click into the thread, I don't see the new additions. This did not happened before.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
When visiting this thread using the link on the forum the last post I see is Krankor's.

nondeplumage: So do you have to download the downloader, or should it be automatic straight from GOG's site now?
You need to download the downloader the first time, but after that you can click downloader links and it will fire it up. The default download folder is one within Documents but you can set it to be wherever you like.
Thanks GOG ! I can't believe it ! It's the talkie version of Dragonsphere !! Cooool ;)
Can't wait now for The Witcher 2 (preload in 5 days yesssssssssss)

Go to your "My Account", then click on the game you wish to download, then click "Add to GOG.com Downloader". After that, you can see a page where you can "Grab the downloader" (you have to do it first, it's a new app, not an update). Download the downloader's ZIP file, extract to somewhere, then start it. After that, you can log in from there, and you can download the games you've added to the downloader. You can add the game from the same page where you can download the downloader. (If I've seen right, it automatically logs you in if you're using your default browser and you're logged in to GOG.com, so you don't have to login manually).
