I sent this to a nordic friend (hence the design), but unfortunately she never received it. She gave me permission to post it here, so figured I might as well. Just using an opportunity to show off, it was sent a while back, so I'm not in for the giveaway (but thanks, though!).

Not in but thanks for the giveaway klumpen0815, making people create something is always good!

Here is a Maximilian style suit of armor made by Lorenz Helmschmid from Augsburg in 1510, along with Konrad Seusenhofer arguably the best armorer of his time. A complete set of high quality no-name armor from that period can set you back about $100'000-250'000 or more. A helmet alone can set you back $100'000.
Top brand sets of armor like this one are decidedly more valuable and the availability of such armor is so limited that most of the surviving examples are in museums.

Painted this at a history museum here in Switzerland

Although I'm a Bloßfechter (Langes Messer und Langes Schwert) and no Harnischfechter, I have to say that decent armor always catches my attention. Even the horse got plating.

Full barding is awesome, here are two very fancy examples I saw at museums. The armor of the rider on the left belonged to Emperor Maximilian I., the horse armor to his daddy Emperor Friedrich III.

I've never had the pleasure of trying Harnischfechten, either, but I've taken part in one Blossfechten training session and one Schaukampf training with the medieval society of another city. They train on a soccer field every week, it's a lot of fun. I thought Schaukampf was very interesting as well because it 's based on doing the exact opposite of what you do in Blossfechten, meaning everything in stage fighting has to be telegraphed.
Sadly, there is no group in my area so I currently have no opportunity to pursue these activities any further but having even a very modest understanding already helps when drawing and painting related stuff. Ideally, I'd like to learn a little bit about everything that's interesting in this world.

(PS: still not in, just sharing pictures)

awalterj: snip
I never was into show stuff and think real european martial arts are practised too few, but the revival of German longsword technique in many countries has spawned a lot of groups, it's hard for me to imagine there are so few in Switzerland, most people just don't know where to search for them and it's very hard to find a group that's training the martial art and not show stuff.

I've learned it for many years, beginning with rapier fencing but into swords later due to lack of rapier sparring partners in some clubs but am alone again atm, when I have time I'll go to another group again but atm I'm spending enough time with my jobs and making music.

Since it's about art, I'll leave it here (not one of my former groups, but a good vid):

...
There are a few mostly small groups covering everything from historical European martial arts to stage fighting to reenactment and even full contact free fight. The problem isn't the low number of groups or that they are hard to find, it's simply that there aren't any in less than a 1,5 hour radius from where I live (door-to-door). For regular training, this is too far plus transportation would cost 25 Euros each time even for the closest one, even with a half-price transit pass.

I live deep in Mordor, apparently. Has both advantages and disadvantages.

Anyway, back from martial arts to the finer arts! Here is a set of Nuremberg armor from the early 16th century. Painted this one at a museum in Geneva.

Well, I'v finished what was asked of me. I's not that impresive but what can I do, there is lot to learn. My scaner fucked up most of the drawing, made it look rough. Anyway, it's mostly done. I could invest couple of more hours into touching it up, but I don't have the time.

Thanks again for all the entries.
There will be two winners due to the fact, that we got seven participants.
As I should honour your art and take my time going through all those fine entries, I'll post the winners in the next days as soon as there is a time when my workload isn't as tense.
:)

We have winners!

Congratulations to

1. kava07
2. DProject
Name your prize, since my GoG codes are visible again, I've added four titles here on GoG to the list.

It wasn't easy to choose and the others are welcome in the next compo of this kind of course, which will begin in the next days.
Fuck me, I actually won something. Well, i'll go for Bioshock.
whooohooo! Grats to kava07 & DProject!

I am a bit relieved actually, anything given to me would just be sitting on my shelf, collecting dust. I am glad they found good homes. I will still be pestering you all with some more puerile submissions next round but, my entry will be on behalf of someone who will actually be able to enjoy the prize.
Congrats kava07 :) I already mentioned it via PM but I'd like Dust: An Elysian Tail.

I hope to see more giveaways such as this in the future! It is always interesting to see what people can do (outside from playing video games ;)
Very nice! Congratulations to the winners, but also well done on all the other great entries and, of course, to Klumpen for the great initiative!
