DProject: Well I guess this is my entry: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/135436/DiseasedProject/Riot.mp3
I decided to cut it short 'cause it sounds a bit video-gamey and I didn't feel like extending the "main theme" with additional parts that would have perhaps messed up the big picture. If you understand what I'm saying :P

It's entirely (processed) Game Boy samples plus one additional non-Game Boy synth. I like to do that stuff!

evilnancyreagan: LSDJ or it doesn't count! ;p

I love CMYK's Magical 8-bit plug-in for achieving that retro aesthetic personally, since samples feel kinda 'cheaty' to me. But now that we have opened that can of worms, I am going to have to make another contribution.

also, I dig the jam :)
Had to google LSDJ. Looks neat-o :) Just to make sure, since you mentioned that samples are cheating, I did place every single note there myself; I didn't mean samples in the sense rappers (for example) usually use them (which to me, is more like "ripping off" than "sampling"; an example would be a melody or a vocal part that's copied as is from a song from the 70's or whatever - something that Kanye especially likes to do). Sample in my sense of the word is simply a note that sounds like something; for example, here they sounds Game Boy -ish, but the sample is still just a single note and nothing more: how you put the notes together is what makes the song.

I hope I didn't completely misunderstood what you meant! :D

hahaha NOPE.

I knew exactly what you meant. I'm a synth junkie so, I am pretty biased when it comes to using samplers. That being said, I totally dig the track! :D

LSDJ is what the 'pros' use, load it onto a flash cart and plug it into an actual gameboy. Preferably one of the classic grey bricks. I never heard of it either until a friend introduced me to Henry Homesweet. Good stuff!

Haha, well thanks for clearing that up :D The method you described sounds way too technical for me though - I understand why certain type of artists would want to prefer it but I like to keep things a little simpler - and a little easier :)
Only in if you need another entrant (I'd be in for The Bard's Tale).

I used to play a game called Glitch, which, sadly, no longer exists. On the left is one of the characters I designed, and on the right is a drawing I did of her in a slightly different style:
Genkimama in Glitch

I was also a prolific creator for Zoo Tycoon 1 for 5+ years, and here is one of my creations:

Hey so long as your are creating, that's all that really matters. All this talk has gave me an itch so, I just threw this stupid thing together to scratch it. Performing their beloved new-wave pop standard;

That's nice of you to say :) I think that my artistic talents are flawed, in that I can (mostly) only draw what I see and/or improve upon something existing. *shrugs and smiles* That's OK with me, I won't complain. I am a gal of many small talents, and that is my one true gift :D
Not In!

But as promised here's a picture of my recently tapped Pilsner. German Yeast, Czech Hops. When you can't decide which type of pilsner you want to brew, choose both ;)

She's only been on gas a few days so a bit undercarbonated at this point, but I couldn't resist - another week or two and she'll be golden. Well, ready to drink - I'm already hugely pleased with how golden and clear she is (the picture is a bit tough to see). I may or may not have taken a sip or two ;)

Well I cannot draw to save my life but I do enjoy taking pictures and turning them into art....

This is loosely based on a certain Japanese style of painting... and is a pix of a Great Egret, the location was a swamp in Louisiana.

If it's ok, I'd like to be in for genkicolleen but if not, then no worries ;-) Thanks for the fun GA!
Does a short story count as art? If not I'll play you a song on my trumpet perhaps...
Sweet giveaway! I'll enter with this song that I wrote, recorded and edited today. It is here on SoundCloud!
https://soundcloud.com/john-william-hudson-thethird/on-and-on-it-goes

I'd like to enter for the game Arcania so long as that's the Arcania steampunk world of magica or what ever the long title is lol

Thanks again for this awesome giveaway! Sorry my spelling is bad as well, I'm in a rush.

aha, checked the pic fist and it seemed a bit off, read what you wrote and it clicked. she does look a little 'young'. I am looking forward to seeing it with a little more age on it. I'm not a huge Pilsner fan but, I'd make an exception for that crisp looking, refreshing brew, very summer appropriate!

That looks delicious:) I need to get to my local homebrew store and figure out my next batch!

Man that sounded so twisted :D I immediately got a mental image of a Ren & Stimpy -style SNES platformer with this playing on the background. Nice work, especially considering you put all that together in such a short time.
Nice to see this thread alive after all. :)

Thanks for the entry, it's the action RPG in the Gothic universe though.

Of course and as long as it's created (recorded, written, drawn, etc...) in August 2014 everything counts.
That's why I gave it four weeks.
